Job Description
Contract AI Engineer opportunity with a staffing firm placing candidates at an enterprise client in the Chicago area. The role focuses on designing and implementing enterprise-grade Generative AI solutions, working across AI solution architecture and customer-facing solution design. This is a hybrid engagement requiring three days onsite and two days remote each week, for an initial term of 12+ months. The posting is restricted to local candidates and to applicants eligible to work without employer sponsorship (USC, GC, H4 EAD, or GC EAD).
Requirements
- 7+ years of software development, solution architecture, or enterprise consulting experience
- 3+ years of hands-on AI solution development
- Proficiency in Python, C#, Java, and JavaScript/Node.js
- Experience with Generative AI, Agentic AI, and prompt engineering
- Hands-on experience with OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google Gemini platforms
- Strong knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, and enterprise integrations
- Experience in AI solution architecture and customer-facing solution design
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Preferred: Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, and semantic search
- Preferred: experience building AI agents, copilots, and conversational AI
- Preferred: familiarity with Azure AI Services, Copilot Studio, and Power Platform
- Preferred: HaloITSM/HaloPSA and ITSM/ITIL knowledge
- Preferred: leadership and mentoring experience
- Must be local to the Chicago, IL area
- Must hold US Citizenship, Green Card, H4 EAD, or GC EAD work authorization
