Job Description

The Sustainable Business Team are responsible for driving environmentally responsible practices and innovative solutions. The team develop strategies that minimized Uisce Eireann’s eco footprint, enhance water conservation efforts and promote community engagement. The Role: The Asset Management and Sustainability area is responsible for the development of asset policies, strategies and plans to determine the significant investment required into Ireland’s infrastructure. The area drives investment and the sustainability and innovation agenda for the organisation and leads on Environmental Regulation and Compliance activities, ensuring the quality of water and wastewater is continuously monitored. The Sustainable Business Team are responsible for driving environmentally responsible practices and innovative solutions. The team develop strategies that minimized Uisce Eireann’s eco footprint, enhance water conservation efforts and promote community engagement. They work to foster partnership with stakeholders, government bodies and local authorities to create a positive impact on water quality, availability, and overall environmental wellbeing. Reporting to the Sustainable Business Manager, the Carbon Sustainability Technical Lead works to advance Uisce Éireann’s commitment to carbon sustainability. The role holder assesses, strategizes and implements initiatives that optimize Uisce Éireann’s carbon impacts. Main Duties and Responsibilities: - Assess organisational requirements in relation to carbon sustainability and work closely with the Sustainability and Innovation team and other parties to ensure the incorporation, implementationand embedding of carbon considerations into all aspects of UÉ - Development of processes, systems, or tools to implement carbon sustainability across UÉ - Proactively implement Uisce Éireann carbon sustainability ambitions and targets including assessing sustainability opportunities for improvement - Research or review regulatory, technical, or market issues related to carbon sustainability. - Oversee the embedment of a culture of carbon sustainability within Uisce Éireann. - Accountable for developing and implementing a consistent approach to carbon value and carbon sustainability across Uisce Éireann - Lead the development and implementation of carbon standards and guidance - Responsible for carbon standards and guidance to support corporate strategies and decision-making processes - Work with colleagues across the wider business to support the company’s corporate carbon objectives - Develop technical training in line with guidelines for roll-out across the organisation and external partners - Identify or procure needed resources to implement carbon sustainability programs or projects. - Support tender development, review, and evaluation in line with organisation strategy General Duties and Responsibilities - Collaboration with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business - Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards - Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives - Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with Uisce Éireann’s Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UÉ business information and delivery of critical services, in accordance with the NIS Directive and any other relevant cybersecurity regulation - Other duties as required Knowledge, Skills and Experience: - Relevant third level qualification and or accreditation is desirable and or relevant experience - A minimum of 5 years’ Experience in the water, utilities or similar industries is desirable - Proven track record of creating a collaborative environment and communicate clearly within the team - Proven track record with dealing with complex issues, proactively and in a timely fashion along with the ability to communicate complex information to others - Experience in managing end-to-end processes to ensure delivery meets customer expectations - Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and analyse problems and potential improvements, and propose and implement solutions - Demonstrate adaptability and the ability to change focus and direction in line with business strategy and requirements - Proactively identifying new areas of improvement and using newly gained knowledge and skill on the job - Skilled in continuously reviewing safety practices and suggest ways for improvement The closing date for receipt of applications for this vacancy is XXX.
