Job Title: Civil Engineer IIILocation: Chesapeake, VA 23323Duration: 12 months to start - This is a 5+ year project/contractSchedule: Onsite – 5 days per week (Monday–Friday)Pay Rate: $60–$65/hour (W2)Relocation : No per diem is available., Candidates relocating to the area may be eligible for a one-time $1,000 mobilization reimbursement.
Position Overview
- We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer III to support a long-term infrastructure and construction project in Chesapeake, VA.
- This role will lead engineering efforts across multiple concurrent projects, from early design review through final construction, while ensuring regulatory compliance, permitting, and engineering quality.
- The ideal candidate is a self-driven civil engineer with strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving abilities, and experience managing engineering reviews, permitting, and construction oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering design reviews for multiple active projects.
- Manage local, state, and federal permitting activities from initiation through approval.
- Review RFIs, submittals, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
- Provide engineering oversight during construction activities.
- Ensure engineering designs meet regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
- Identify technical issues and recommend practical engineering solutions.
- Improve engineering processes and implement best practices.
- Independently make engineering decisions while providing technical guidance to project teams.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of relevant Civil Engineering experience.
- Experience leading engineering activities on complex infrastructure or construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of engineering design reviews, permitting, and construction support.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not required.
- Experience with local, state, and federal permitting processes.
- Engineering field experience is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet critical project deadlines.
Work Environment
- Onsite position (5 days per week).
- Overtime may be required based on project schedules.
- Typical work schedule is 40–50 hours per week.
