Job Description
Define and standardize the commissioning and product acceptance framework for OCI's mission-critical power infrastructure, developing engineering standards, test scripts, acceptance criteria, and validation processes that ensure generation, substation, and data center power systems are commissioned safely, consistently, and operate reliably from energization through steady-state operations.
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is commissioning and stabilizing large, multi-vendor power systems that support mission-critical data centers. We’re hiring a Commissioning Standards & Product Acceptance Lead to define the standards, scripts, and acceptance framework that ensure design intent is validated consistently across OCI’s infrastructure portfolio.
This role focuses on the engineering requirements for product-level commissioning and acceptance, including readiness criteria, acceptance testing, evidence packages, and standardized test scripts that support repeatable deployment at scale. Rather than leading site-level execution, this role will own the development of the commissioning framework that guides OEMs, EPCs, and site teams through safe, consistent energization and turnover.
You’ll help establish the acceptance structure for generation, substations and T&D interfaces, protection, controls/EMS, and data center power delivery. The goal is to ensure designs are validated against OCI’s engineering intent before deployment, with clear criteria for issue detection, corrective action, and retesting to closure. The role will also support stable first 90 days of operation by defining the standards that reduce control hunting, protection miscoordination, nuisance trips, and other early-life instability.
We’re looking for a hands-on technical leader with deep experience in commissioning large-scale generation or equivalent mission-critical power systems, and a strong record of building the processes and technical rigor needed to bring systems to stabilize operations.
### Responsibilities
What you’ll do
- Develop standardized commissioning requirements, scripts, readiness gates, hold/witness points, and acceptance criteria that validate OCI design intent and product performance.
- Define the product-level commissioning framework across DC design.
- Create repeatable test scripts and evidence requirements for critical acceptance activities, including black start rehearsals, islanding/resynchronization, protection coordination validation, and power quality testing at data center PCCs.
- Establish acceptance packages that clearly define what must be proven before equipment, systems, or integrated products are released for use.
- Partner with OEMs, EPCs, utilities, and operators to align on acceptance scope, sequencing, documentation, and testing constraints in live, high-availability environments.
- Define how system-level issues are identified, documented, analyzed, and closed during product acceptance and early operation.
- Lead root-cause analysis requirements, corrective action expectations, and retest criteria to ensure issues are resolved before final acceptance.
- Establish reliability KPIs, event review expectations, and operational readiness deliverables that support a stable handoff to operations.
- Champion safety, compliance, and disciplined change management, including test procedure control, LOTO/PTW requirements, and commissioning risk assessments.
What you’ll bring
- 10+ years of experience in commissioning, acceptance testing, or technical validation for large-scale generation, T&D/substations, microgrids, or mission-critical power systems.
- Demonstrated expertise in protection and controls, including relay settings/coordination, control schemes, EMS/SCADA integration, and performance validation under transient conditions.
- Proven ability to create commissioning standards, test scripts, acceptance frameworks, and technical documentation that can scale across multiple sites or programs.
- Deep understanding of commissioning best practices: test planning, procedure development, evidence-based acceptance, punch-list management, and disciplined retest/closeout.
- Demonstrated incident and event analysis skills, including disturbance review, oscillation/hunting investigation, nuisance trip elimination, and durable corrective action development.
