In the HPE Hybrid Cloud, we lead the innovation agenda and technology roadmap for all of HPE. This includes managing the design, development, and product portfolio of our next-generation cloud platform, Green Lake. Product Overview
HPE Kubernetes Services (HKS) is a next-generation enterprise Kubernetes platform that enables customers to provision, manage, and operate Kubernetes clusters through a unified and intuitive management interface.
The platform provides enterprise-grade cluster lifecycle management capabilities, including high availability, intelligent workload scheduling, integrated data protection, security hardening, and lifecycle automation. HKS is designed to deliver a scalable, resilient, and secure Kubernetes experience for mission-critical enterprise workloads across hybrid cloud environments.
Role Overview
As a Developer, you will contribute to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of core components of HPE Kubernetes Services (HKS). You will work on well-defined problem areas, take ownership of assigned features, and collaborate closely with senior engineers and architects to deliver high-quality, enterprise-grade Kubernetes platform capabilities.
This role requires strong hands-on software development skills in Linux-based systems, a solid understanding of Kubernetes and distributed systems, and a passion for building reliable, scalable, and secure infrastructure software.
What you’ll do:
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain reliable, scalable, and high-performance features for an enterprise Kubernetes platform.
- Own assigned features throughout their lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, documentation, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
- Collaborate with senior engineers, architects, Product Management, QA, and DevOps teams during design discussions, implementation, and release activities.
- Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and design reviews to ensure adherence to engineering standards and best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across Linux, Kubernetes, networking, and storage layers.
- Contribute to improving the platform's reliability, performance, scalability, security, and maintainability.
- Write high-quality, well-tested, and maintainable code following secure software development practices.
- Continuously learn and adopt emerging cloud-native technologies and engineering best practices.
What you need to bring:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
- 2–4 years of hands-on software development experience in Linux systems, Kubernetes platforms, distributed systems, or cloud-native technologies.
Required Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of Kubernetes architecture, cluster management, scheduling, networking, and workload orchestration.
- Experience with container technologies such as Docker & containerd.
- Strong Programming experience in Java/ Groovy or similar technologies.
- Strong skills in Shell/Groovy scripting
- Exposure to Kubernetes Operators, Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs), or Helm.
- Working knowledge of enterprise storage technologies (Persistent Volumes, CSI, NFS, SAN/iSCSI) and networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, Load Balancing, Ingress, CNI).
- Good understanding of Linux operating system internals, process management, filesystems, networking, and clustering concepts.
- Good understanding of distributed systems fundamentals and enterprise software architecture.
- Experience using Git, automated build systems, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts.
- Familiarity with public cloud platforms or hybrid cloud infrastructure is a plus.
