Job Description

About the Role We’re looking for a remote, mid-level Software Development Engineer who can work across the full stack in web applications to join our distributed Ecommerce Software Engineering team. In this role, you will help build, maintain, and evolve web applications with a strong emphasis on Laravel. This role goes beyond backend work—you’ll be involved across the stack, contributing to APIs, databases, and user-facing features. You’ll collaborate closely with other developers to deliver scalable, well-structured solutions while helping modernize and improve existing systems. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and maintain full-stack web applications using PHP, primarily with Laravel Support and enhance existing applications built with CodeIgniter Design, optimize, and maintain MySQL databases Develop frontend features using JavaScript and Vue.js Collaborate with business users to translate requirements into clean, usable interfaces Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code across the stack Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in both frontend and backend code Write and maintain unit tests and feature tests (Laravel/PHPUnit) Improve code quality through test coverage, refactoring, and best practices Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical discussions Work with production environments and assist with deployments and configuration Work closely with QA to ensure a high standard of quality is met REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 3+ years of professional experience with PHP Strong experience with Laravel (primary framework) Experience writing unit tests and feature tests (PHPUnit or Pest) Solid understanding of MySQL and relational database design Proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) Experience building frontend features and working with APIs Familiarity with Vue.js or similar frontend frameworks Experience using Git and collaborative workflows Strong understanding of MVC architecture and full-stack development principles Comfortable working independently in a remote-first environment PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS Experience working with Nginx, CodeIgniter, and Linux-based servers Basic DevOps or deployment experience Experience with frontend build tools (Vite, Webpack, etc.) Exposure to automated testing or CI/CD pipelines Experience working on ecommerce platforms WORKING CONDITIONS A collaborative and supportive remote team Opportunities for technical and professional growth POSITION INFORMATION This position is 100% remote and can be located anywhere within the continental United States. Estimated annual compensation range: $65,000-95,000 (Individual compensation is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate’s experience, location, education, skills, and other relevant business considerations.) Key Responsibilities
