Job Description
Hill International is seeking an Electrical CAD Designer in Berkeley, CA
We are seeking an experienced 3D Electrical CAD Designer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing detailed electrical designs, schematics, and bills of materials that translate engineering concepts into manufacturable products. The ideal candidate brings several years of hands-on CAD experience, strong attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset.

### Responsibilities
- Create and maintain electrical models, wiring diagrams, schematics, and panel layouts using industry-standard CAD software, in particular AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD Inventor and KiCad.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and project managers to ensure designs meet technical requirements and integrate seamlessly with overall product assemblies.
- Generate bills of materials (BOMs), wire/cable lists, and supporting documentation for manufacturing and assembly teams.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and internal quality requirements.
- Review and revise designs based on feedback, design reviews, and engineering change orders.
- Maintain organized design files, libraries, and revision control within Windchill’s documentation system.
### Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience in electrical CAD design (AutoCAD Electrical or KiCad) building and integrating complex models.
- Demonstrated experience producing manufacturing-ready documentation including BOMs and wire/cable schedules in industry.
- Understanding of PLM/PDM systems for version control and design management.
- Strong understanding of electrical principles, components, schematics, and wiring practices.
- Familiarity with electrical standards and codes (e.g., IPC, IEC, UL, NEC, as applicable).
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills with ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- 8+ years of practical experience with electrical CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical or KiCad)
- Experience with 3D mechanical CAD integration and electromechanical design.
- Experience working in the Windchill environment
- Prior work in complex industrial electrical equipment or highly technical and advanced engineering designs.
- Experience with harness design tools and routing software.
The salary range for this position is $115,000-$145,000. The offered salary will be based on the applicants qualifications, education, experience and work location.
