Senior Data Engineer - AI Platform Engineer Hybrid: 4 days in the office, 1 day working from home Join Our Data Team at Ebury Madrid or Malaga Office. Ebury's strategic growth plan would not be possible without our Data team and we are seeking an Data Engineer - AI Platform to join our Data Platform Engineering team! Our mission is to develop, maintain and improve Ebury's Data Platform — and we are now extending that mission to build the Agentic Data Plane (ADP): a unified, governed interfacing layer for AI and agentic products that abstracts communication and access to data whilst enforcing governance, lineage, traceability, and full replayability. As an AI Platform Engineer, you will work closely with the rest of the Data Platform team and cross-functional domain teams to design and deliver the platform capabilities that let Ebury ship AI and agentic products safely and at scale. What we offer - Competitive salary and benefits package - Discretionary bonus based on performance - Continued personal development through training and certification - We are Open Source friendly, following Open Source principles in our internal projects and encouraging contributions to external projects Responsibilities - Design and deliver core components of Ebury's Agentic Data Plane, including agent-to-agent (A2A) communication, the Agent Tool Registry, and governed data access layers - Build platform primitives for secure tool use coordination, including "on behalf of" (OBO) patterns, centralized policy guardrails, and audit logging with full replayability - Provide end-to-end observability for agentic products: data dependencies, traces, evaluation signals, and accountability as a day-one requirement - Integrate the ADP with the Data Platform's governed foundations — catalog, metadata, data warehouse, and vector retrieval - Collaborate with domain teams to onboard pilot agents and help them adopt platform standards and runtime patterns - Drive innovation and explore emerging technologies (LLM evaluation, prompt safety, agent memory) to enhance our AI platform capabilities About you - Self-motivation and curiosity, with a desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment, continuously improving both technical and business skills - Platform engineering experience building internal platforms consumed by other engineering teams - Strong software engineering fundamentals: API design, reliability, testing, and operability - Experience building secure systems — authentication/authorization, audit logs, least-privilege access, and governance controls - Hands-on experience operating production services on GCP, including services such as Vertex AI, BigQuery, Cloud Run, and Cloud Functions - Proficiency in Python for building platform services, data transformation, and tooling - Experience with agentic or LLM-based systems in production (evaluation, drift monitoring, prompt safety) is a strong plus - Familiarity with data governance concepts — lineage, traceability, access controls — and data platform ecosystems is encouraged - Fluency in English (Spanish, a plus) If you're excited about this job opportunity but your background doesn't match exactly the requirements in the job description, we strongly encourage you to apply anyway.
