We are actively seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer with commercial diving certification and experience to perform structural inspections both above and below water. As part of our Baltimore, MD dive team, you will be working with a professional engineering inspection team that provides consulting services to clients primarily in the Baltimore area and infrequent overnight travel is required. As a member of the firmwide Inspection & Rehabilitation (I&R) Practice, occasional travel to waterfront destinations (both domestically and internationally) is available for those that would like to participate. The principal function of this position is be part of a team that evaluates marine structures and ports through above and underwater engineering inspections, follow-on report preparation and development of structural repair designs. You will also perform high-level analysis and design. You will utilize modern workflows that include field tablets, UAS (drones), nondestructive testing and evaluation, marine mapping and imaging, analysis and modeling tools. Structural coursework or focus is preferred - Engineer in Training (EIT) required - Certified Commercial Diver is required; ADCI, HSE, DCBC, IMCA, ADAS or completion of a US military equivalent diving school required - Entry level to 4+ years of related diving and inspection experience required - Valid driver’s license in good standing - Boater Safety Card preferred - Availability and willingness to travel as required. Most work is local/regional and employee is able to return home most evenings. In addition to salary, Moffatt & Nichol also offers generous rope access and dive pay along with a personal equipment reimbursement program.
