You will be working on Nesto Cloud, Canada’s most advanced cloud platform. At the heart of this platform is Maestro, an AI-powered ecosystem that makes mortgage professionals dramatically more productive across sales, underwriting, and loan servicing. As the Team Lead, you will lead and manage a team of software developers, ensuring efficient project execution, high-quality deliverables, and effective collaboration across cross-functional teams. You will provide mentorship, remove roadblocks, and drive the team's focus on impactful projects while promoting a culture of continuous improvement and employee growth. What you'll be doing - Establish a regular rhythm of active engagement with the Product Manager and key business stakeholders to align on goal setting, technical feasibility, and feature prioritization; - Take full ownership of sprint planning, backlog grooming, and the audit/establishment of team rituals (Scrum ceremonies); - Conduct comprehensive reviews of AI-assisted validation architecture and initiate technical improvement plans for scalability and maintainability; - Direct and manage a team of developers, providing guidance, support, and mentoring to ensure team success; - Proactively identify and eliminate obstacles for the team, thus fostering a productive and efficient work environment; - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time while maintaining our quality standards; - Contribute to the company's technical strategy and ensure our technical infrastructure is scalable, robust, and secure; - Develop and implement training and mentorship programs for developers at all levels; - Guide the team towards high-impact projects, aligning their efforts with organizational objectives; - Conduct code reviews, offer constructive feedback, and provide guidance on best practices; - Contribute to establishing a culture of development excellence, quality, and technical curiosity; - Lead the development of complex technical projects and ensure technical excellence is maintained throughout the development process; Cultivate an inclusive and supportive team environment where individuals can thrive and enhance their skills. Who we're looking for - Over 7 years of software development experience. - 2+ years in a leadership position (tech lead or team lead) within a software development team. - Experience working on prototypes and new products. - Full-stack awareness, comfortable engaging in both frontend and backend architecture discussions. - Strong understanding of best practices in software engineering, including design patterns, testing methodologies, and agile development processes. - Proficient in producing quality and performance metrics across the software development lifecycle (SDLC). - Ambiguity tolerance, strong written and verbal communication skills, and composure under pressure when requirements or direction shift. - AI-forward development practice: actively uses AI coding assistants in their workflow and brings that fluency to how the team builds. - AI/ML judgment: comfortable with AI/ML-adjacent components like embeddings and model-assisted classification. - Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to proactively identify and resolve obstacles for the team. - Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, focusing on key initiatives.
