Job Description
This small team of engineers designs and productizes Software-Defined Radios and precision RF and Analog Test Equipment for testing, calibrating, and researching cellular, 5G, Satellite communications, WiFi, BT, mmWave, UWB, and NFC radios in millions of iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Apple Watches. All members of the team bring their own unique expertise to collectively take internal Apple products from concept to mass production. Each internal product is designed to Apple's exacting standards, which maintain the quality, accuracy, and functionality of commercially available offerings.
## Description
As an FPGA Engineer, you will work on the next-generation wireless communication products. Our products are built on platforms that heavily leverage complex, high-speed, real-time logic running on industry-leading FPGAs. You will work with other cross-functional team members, such as RF system engineers, software engineers, DSP engineers, hardware engineers, and Embedded Firmware engineers, to design and develop embedded systems that are instrumental in creating products loved all over the globe.
## Minimum qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in EE, CE, CS, Math, Physics, or related major with relevant industry work experience.
Passionate about learning and working in an agile environment.
Recent development experience in designing, coding, and implementing digital logic for FPGAs using VHDL or Verilog.
Recent development experience in developing comprehensive test benches to verify HDL code for functional correctness, performance, and compliance with specifications.
International travel of 10% is required.
## Preferred qualifications
Experience in digital circuits, state machines, pipelining, memory interfaces, multiple clock domains, and high-speed designs.
Experience designing DSP algorithms in FPGAs or ASICs.
Ability to use lab equipment such as JTAG, Logic Analyzer, Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer, etc.
Experience with Cadence Simulation Tools and Xilinx Vivado.
Knowledge of UVM.
Knowledge of RF and DSP fundamentals.
Knowledge of high-speed communication protocols like PCIe, 100GbE, JESD204C, etc.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop embedded systems for next-generation wireless communication products.
- Implement digital logic for FPGAs using VHDL or Verilog.
- Develop comprehensive test benches to verify HDL code for functional correctness and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including RF system, software, DSP, and hardware engineers.
- Ensure products meet Apple's exacting standards for quality, accuracy, and functionality.
