In this role, you’ll own core parts of the backend system, help define scalable architecture, and collaborate closely with engineers and product teams. We’re looking for someone with hands-on experience across the stack and at least **2+ year of technical leadership** — whether that’s mentoring, making architecture decisions, or guiding feature implementation. **Responsibilities** - Set and create engineering ecosystem, best practices, tooling, and architect complex systems - Experience with using AI Tools in solving complex coding problems - Design and build scalable backend systems using **Node.js** and **PostgreSQL** - Develop robust APIs (**REST** or **GraphQL**) - Lead engineering practices and mentor team members - Collaborate with engineers to deliver end-to-end features - Deploy and manage infrastructure on cloud services like **AWS** and **Vercel** - Maintain and evolve CI/CD pipelines (**GitHub Actions**, **Jenkins**) - Work with both relational and NoSQL databases: **PostgreSQL**, **MySQL**, **MongoDB**, **Firebase** - Design and integrate **message queue systems** (e.g., **RabbitMQ**, **Kafka**, **Redis Streams**) - Make thoughtful architectural decisions and performance optimizations. **Tech Stack** **Backend** - Node.js and NextJS API routes - Express and/or NestJS - PostgreSQL and/or other relational database expertise - MongoDB or similar document-oriented database experience - Supabase - Docker - GitHub Actions, Jenkins or similar CICD pipelining - AWS / GCP / Azure - Message Queues: RabbitMQ, Kafka, Redis Streams **Frontend** - React - Next.js - Component libraries (e.g., Radix UI) **Requirements** - At least 2+ year of experience in a technical leadership or mentoring role. - Uses AI to code on a daily basis; Loveable, v0, ChatGPT etc. - 5+ years of experience as a full-stack engineer. - Strong backend expertise with **Node.js** and relational databases - Experience building and scaling APIs and backend systems - Cloud infrastructure experience (**AWS**, **Azure**, or **GCP**) - Solid hands-on experience with **Docker** and CI/CD tools - Experience designing and integrating **message queues** (RabbitMQ, Kafka, or Redis Streams) - Strong understanding of performance, security, and backend architecture **Why Join STERRY?** We’re a global, fast-moving agency that’s obsessed with pushing creative and digital boundaries.
