Job Description

## Opportunity At Method, we're building the operating system that thousands of small businesses run their day on. We're the platform QuickBooks users rely on when spreadsheets and generic tools stop cutting it. Right now, our Development team is shipping a new multi-location inventory app for growing businesses managing stock across warehouses and storefronts, expanding our no-code engine so non-developers can build production-grade workflows in minutes, and rolling out AI-powered features that put our customers ahead of much bigger competitors. We're looking for a Full-Stack Developer with 2โ€“5 years of experience who wants their code in front of real businesses every single day. ## About Method Method is on a mission to transform how small businesses operate by giving them real control over their customer workflows. Our flagship product, Method CRM is purpose-built for small businesses that have outgrown spreadsheets and generic tools. With deep QuickBooks integration and a powerful no-code customization engine, Method enables users to design workflows that truly fit their unique needs. As a scaling growth company, we're now taking that mission further, leveraging AI to develop intelligent agents that assist users in rapidly building and customizing no-code apps. This innovation is at the heart of our next chapter, and we're looking for people who are excited to build the future of work! ## The Role As a Full-Stack Developer, you will be part of a driven and supportive team that's always striving to deliver value to our customers by shipping new features and helping our platform scale. - Ship features end-to-end across React/TypeScript and .NET Core, from first sketch to production. - Help shape our new multi-location inventory app, architecture, data model, UX trade-offs, all of it. - Push the no-code engine forward, designing the primitives that let non-developers build serious apps. - Pair with AI tools (Claude, Copilot, Codex) as part of your daily workflow, with the judgment to own what you ship. - Trade ideas with a team that genuinely argues trade-offs in code reviews, not one that rubber-stamps PRs. ## What You Bring Before you read this next section, we want you to know that we know the "ideal candidate" doesn't exist โ€” everybody has a unique background and skill set. Even if you don't check every box below, we'd love for you to apply - we are building for the future and growth potential is a priority for us! - 2โ€“5 years of experience building and shipping production web applications, working across both front-end and back-end. - Strong backend fundamentals in C#/.NET Core, or equivalent experience in Java, Node, or a comparable stack. - Strong frontend fundamentals in React/TypeScript, or equivalent experience in Angular or Vue. - Post-secondary education in the following areas preferred: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or equivalent training/experience. - Experience with persistence storage and ORM (such as SQL/NoSql). - Solid understanding of API design, real-world debugging, and writing clean, maintainable code. - Experience in Unit/Integration Testing. - Comfortable taking on moderately complex tasks with limited supervision and communicating trade-offs clearly. - Sprint/Kanban experience using Agile Methodology. - Comfortable using AI coding tools (Codex, Copilot, Claude, etc.) to write, review, and debug code โ€” with the engineering judgment to understand and own what you ship. - Must be self-motivated, goal driven and possess the ability to multitask, prioritize and enjoy problem solving. - A team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to contribute to the overall team's success in a fast paced environment. Bonus points if you have any of the following: - Experience with inventory, ERP, POS, or data-model-heavy business apps. - Experience with no-code or low-code platforms, or products built around customization and configurability. - Experience with Linux, Docker, Redux, MongoDB, ElasticSearch, Redis, RabbitMQ, MassTransit, Continuous Delivery Pipeline, TFS, Jenkins, Test Automation, Python, and Katalon. - Microsoft certifications. - AWS certifications. ## What We Offer ๐ŸŒ Flexible hybrid work model โ€“ designed to support work-life balance while maintaining strong team collaboration; employees work from our downtown Toronto office 2โ€“3 days per week ๐ŸŽ‰ Collaborative and social team culture โ€“ work in a supportive environment with regular team events and company-wide celebrations that keep things fun and connected ๐Ÿš€ Growth-stage company experience โ€“ working at a scaling growth company like Method gives you deep insight into how a software company operates. You'll be involved in a wide range of discussions and initiatives, gaining experience that's hard to find in more siloed environments. ๐Ÿ“š Training โ€“ You will receive initial and ongoing training on Method's products, policies and procedures as well as a quarterly professional development budget. ๐Ÿ“ Great downtown location โ€“ Method is located right in the heart of Toronto's young and vibrant 'King West' technology hub at the corner of Adelaide and Spadina Ave. ๐Ÿฉบ Comprehensive health benefits โ€“ inclusive of healthcare, vision, and dental coverage to support your overall well-being ๐Ÿฅ— Weekly lunch credit โ€“ enjoy a meal on us every week as a small way to say thanks ## What to Expect in Your First 90 Days - Onboard and acclimate with the Development team, including tailored 1on1s. - Complete Method's Bootcamp. - Understand Method's values, tools and best practices and how our teams collaborate to drive results. - Learn how various parts of the system are integrated together, and navigate the codebase so that you can troubleshoot minor bugs. - Start making small improvements based on the product backlog or refactoring code to improve readability, testability, and maintainability. - Contribute to the Development team's culture, processes, and best practices. - Become more confident with code ownership and deploying to production. - Assisting the team with daily releases and monitoring changes. - Start assuming more autonomy and finding small ways to practice ownership across the platform. - Work closely with your manager to explore goals for the rest of the year. - Help other developers with code design and decision making. Compensation: $70,000 - $95,000 per annum Job type: Full-time permanent. This is an active role we are currently hiring for, and we thank all applicants for their interest. Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. We kindly request that recruiting agencies do not contact us regarding this position. ## AI in Recruitment At Method, we use artificial intelligence (AI) to help support and enhance our recruitment process. These tools may assist with tasks such as resume screening, drafting job descriptions, generating initial interview questions, transcription, and occasionally sourcing candidates. AI is never used to make final hiring decisions. All hiring decisions are made by our team. Our use of AI is intended to support administrative and repetitive tasks, helping us streamline our workflows while maintaining a thoughtful and human-centered hiring experience. We are committed to the responsible and ethical use of AI in our recruitment practices. Our standardized hiring processes are designed to reduce bias and promote fairness, and we regularly review and refine our practices to align with evolving industry standards and legal guidelines. Method is an equal opportunity employer for all โ€” regardless of race, colour, ancestry, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, marital status or able-bodiedness. As part of our commitment to be an inclusive and accessible workplace, we're happy to provide accommodations for candidates taking part in the selection process.
