Job Description
The Grant Accountant is responsible for managing the financial accounting, reporting, and reconciliation of grant funds to ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional requirements. This role supports grant reimbursement processes by maintaining accurate financial records, preparing drawdowns, monitoring grant budgets, and tracking expenditures. The Grant Accountant also assists with required reporting and audit preparation, including support for FISAP and the Single Audit, while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure proper stewardship of grant funds. This position is partially funded through external grant support. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of grant funding; however, no end date is currently specified.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Maintain a financial accounting, reporting, and record-keeping system to support grant reimbursement.
• Load grant budgets into the CX system.
• Responsible for the invoicing and reconciliation processes related to funding drawdowns from external, federal, and state agencies.
• Prepares drawdown packets and reconcile funds received and properly booked.
• Maintains monthly tracking spreadsheets for all grant awards.
• Assists FISAP and Single Audit preparation.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including project and committee work.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Ability to interface professionally with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks with attention to detail
• General knowledge of GAAP and GASB
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, and Word, for grant and report writing
• Grant Reimbursement experience
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university in Accounting or a related field.
• 3 to 5 years of general ledger accounting and grant accounting experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Light work that includes moving objects up to 25 pounds.
