## Overview strangebrain is hiring a Intelligent Systems Engineer (Automation & AI) to help us design and build intelligent systems that reshape how work gets done. This role is ideal for someone who loves solving messy workflow problems, building smart automations, and working directly with clients to design elegant solutions. You’ll work across integration platforms (like Workato or Tray.io), AI tooling, and custom automation frameworks to connect systems, replace legacy processes, and help our clients operate faster and smarter. This is a hybrid role (just the work, not the location) — part engineer, part consultant, part automation detective. You’ll have a direct hand in shaping how businesses adapt to the future of work. ## Note on Hiring Locations strangebrain is a fully remote company, but for this role we are only hiring in and around Indiana, specifically Indianapolis, right now. We know that’s a little specific — but we’re growing fast and expanding our hiring locations soon. ## What You’ll Do - Design and build end-to-end automations across client systems (SaaS, APIs, data workflows) - Implement GenAI-powered pipelines and AI Agents within real business processes - Develop custom logic, data transformations, and platform integrations - Collaborate with client teams to understand workflows, pain points, and automation opportunities - Participate in solution architecture, technical scoping, and design sessions - Contribute to strangebrain’s growing library of modular automation kits and internal frameworks - Stay sharp on emerging AI, automation, and integration technologies ## What You Bring - 2-5 years experience in technical consulting, integration engineering, or automation delivery - Hands-on experience with iPaaS tools (Workato, Tray.ai, Zapier, or similar) - Familiarity with automation best practices (data flows, API calls, system integration) - Exposure to GenAI tooling (OpenAI, LangChain, prompt engineering) — or curiosity to learn fast - Comfortable working directly with clients and leading technical conversations - Bonus: Experience with ServiceNow, RPA platforms, or building internal tooling ## Why Work at strangebrain?
