Job Description
This role is responsible for driving long term renewable energy growth through market development, new tender development, competitive bidding, PPA/contract structuring, closure of C&I opportunities, development of renewable energy parks, sizing and configuration, M&A and strategic partnerships, digital initiatives, and market intelligence, strategy, and policy advocacy. The role leads cross-functional teams, strengthens stakeholder relationships, ensures regulatory and audit readiness, manages business risks, and supports sustainable project development from opportunity identification through execution and operational handover.

Job Purpose: Lead - International BD is responsible for driving the expansion and growth of renewable energy projects in international markets. This senior role involves identifying and cultivating new business opportunities, leading cross-functional teams, and ensuring successful execution of strategic initiatives related to international market development, partnerships, and projects. The position demands a proactive approach to business growth, regulatory navigation, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable project implementation, ensuring alignment with the organization’s global expansion and sustainability goals.
### Responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate, and prioritize renewable energy opportunities, including new tenders, renewable parks, strategic partnerships, C&I opportunities, hybrid /RTC PPAs, data centers, and emerging technologies.
- Hold the STRAP and strategic growth planning for AGEL through constraint mapping (Resources, Sites, Transmission), revenue profile mapping (PPA / Merchant / Input power / BESS / PSP)
- Lead end-to-end bidding and tender processes, including bid strategy, risk assessment, PPA negotiations, contract structuring, documentation, and submission quality.
- Drive development and operationalization of renewable energy parks and strategic projects, covering site selection, feasibility, due diligence, regulatory approvals, milestone tracking, and operational handover.
- Build and manage strategic partnerships, M&A opportunities, and investment initiatives to expand the business portfolio and accelerate growth.
- Maintain robust documentation for contracts, approvals, due diligence, project milestones, performance reviews, and statutory/audit reporting.
- Monitor macroeconomic, market, policy, and regulatory trends; develop advocacy positions, white papers, and stakeholder engagement plans to influence enabling business environments.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, quality, safety, governance, and audit requirements across all business development, project development, and commercial activities.
- Manage relationships with government agencies, regulatory authorities, investors, partners, associations, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and potential M&A targets.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate business, commercial, regulatory, contractual, execution, and stakeholder risks across the opportunity-to-handover lifecycle.
- Lead, mentor, and align cross-functional teams across business development, finance, legal, compliance, projects, operations, digital, sustainability, and support functions.
- Promote sustainability and carbon credit strategies by integrating environmentally responsible practices and tracking opportunities for carbon-related value creation.
### Qualifications
Qualification & Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Engineering (Core branches i.e. Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, preferred), Renewable Energy, or a related field.
• MBA or advanced degree in Strategic Management, International Business, Renewable Energy, or Corporate Finance is preferred.
• Additional certifications in M&A, bidding processes, PPA/contract management, policy advocacy, or carbon markets are advantageous.
• 15+ years of experience in business development, strategy, commercial analysis, bidding, PPAs, M&A, policy advocacy, and renewable energy growth across domestic and international markets.
• Proven experience in renewable parks, new tenders, C&I/digital opportunities, complex regulatory environments, high-stakes negotiations, large-scale project development, and cross-functional leadership.
