**Machine Learning Engineer - Data Scientist** **Job description** In AI&Analytics Solutions team, we want to ensure that we’re bringing smart decision making (human augmentation or automated) to the forefront of our processes/journeys by establishing a data and experimentation culture that could ultimately become a competitive advantage in today’s fast-changing world. Are you excited to create business value out of data? **As Machine Learning Engineer - Data Scientist on our team, you will:** - Work closely with business stakeholders to understand and frame their challenges as analytical problems. - Apply machine learning, statistical methods, and optimization techniques to develop innovative solutions that drive business impact. - Design, build, and evaluate predictive and prescriptive models, ensuring their reliability and robustness. - Fine-tune, adapt, and evaluate open-weight Large Language Models (LLMs) and Vision-Language Models (VLMs) for enterprise use cases, leveraging techniques such as supervised fine-tuning, parameter-efficient tuning (LoRA/QLoRA), instruction tuning, and model evaluation. - Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of ML products: from ideation and prototyping to deployment and ongoing evaluation in production. - Collaborate with fellow Data Scientists to share knowledge, best practices, and continuously improve our methodologies. - Ensure the quality and performance of your solutions through rigorous testing and continuous monitoring post-deployment. - Contribute to our data science community by developing reusable assets, sharing your expertise, and participating in innovation initiatives. **Profile** As Machine Learning Engineer – Data Scientist, you have: - At least 2 years of experience as a Data Scientist/ML engineer or a similar analytical role. - Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Physics, Computer Science). - Strong practical knowledge of machine learning, statistics, and optimization techniques, with hands-on experience in applying them to real-world problems. Experience in developing, evaluating, and deploying end-to-end data science solutions. - Hands-on experience with foundation models, including fine-tuning, adapting, evaluating, and deploying open-weight Large Language Models (LLMs) and/or Vision-Language Models (VLMs). - Familiarity with modern GenAI frameworks and techniques such as Hugging Face, Transformers, PEFT/LoRA, model serving, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and LLM evaluation methodologies. - Proficiency in Python and common data science and machine learning libraries. - Familiarity with cloud computing environments and MLOps/LLMOps practices. - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. - Fluent in English, as well as French or Dutch And you are also: - Passionate about solving business problems with data and analytics. - Outcome-focused, able to balance technical excellence with business needs. - Curious and eager to continuously learn and experiment with new techniques. - Collaborative and thrive in team environments. - Proactive, analytical, and solution-oriented. *AXA aims to be a reflection of the diverse society in which we live and has therefore been pursuing a policy of active diversity, non-discrimination, and equal opportunities for many years.
