Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience. 8 years of experience in mechanical sustaining engineering. Experience in working with suppliers via product life cycle (PLC) engagement models (e.g., agreement manufacturer, joint design manufacturing model (JDM), and original device manufacturer (ODM)). Experience with manufacturing processes such as sheet metal fabrication, injection molding. Experience with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) for mechanical tolerance analysis. Preferred qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or a related engineering field. Experience setting up manufacturing assembly processes, driving product launches and assembly process optimization within manufacturing operations. Experience collaborating with contract manufacturers and suppliers to resolve manufacturing issues and drive process improvements. Experience in technical leadership, project management, and executive communication. Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions.

The Manufacturing Operations team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer, you will support the product manufacturing with our contract manufacturer partners and create the processes, tools and procedures to ensure specifications and deliveries are met. You will be ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You will collaborate with Commodity Managers, Supplier Quality Engineers and Design Engineers to determine Google’s infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work will ensure the various pieces of Google’s infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience. The Global Manufacturing Operations organization works closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, and Commodity Management teams as well as our Manufacturing Partners to produce Google Cloud infrastructure for Google's fleet of data centers. You will be responsible for leading the development, qualification, and continuous improvement of mechanical parts and the integration of all them at partner sites globally. Responsibilities Review and influence designs using design for manufacturing and assembly (DFM/DFA) fundamentals to develop manufacturable and scalable products. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Mechanical Engineering, Supply Quality Engineering, Program Managers and Global Commodity Manager. Lead product qualifications from mechanical parts and assemblies to L11 rack integration at agreement manufacturing partners. Drive the coot cause correction action (RCCA) investigations to resolve manufacturing and system assembly issues. Audit suppliers, and influence sourcing strategy by providing technical feedback to the commodity management team. Lead mechanical part suppliers to improve the manufacturing yield, efficiency and throughput. Analyze product system assembly needs, influence mechanical designs changes, and identify solutions to problems. Lead manufacturing process design, optimization, and qualification. Be responsible for the mechanical parts qualification and factory physical capacity increase to build up a supply chain resilience.
