With our global reach, we ensure the global supply chain has access to the Flash memory it needs to keep our world moving forward. ## Job Description We are seeking a New College Graduate (NCG) SSD Firmware Engineer to join the firmware engineering team. This role is intended for conversion of a high‑performing intern who has demonstrated strong technical skills, ownership, and the ability to contribute to production‑quality firmware development. The engineer will work on enterprise SSD firmware, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to design, implement, validate, and support firmware features across the product lifecycle. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Design, develop, and debug C/C++ firmware for enterprise SSD controllers - Contribute to firmware features across EVT → DVT → LVM → MP stages - Work on NVMe protocol, storage command handling, and performance optimization - Develop and execute unit tests, system tests, and validation tools - Analyze firmware logs, traces, and failure data to identify root causes - Collaborate with hardware, validation, and system software teams - Participate in code reviews and adhere to secure coding and quality standards - Support customer‑specific firmware deliverables when required ## Qualifications Required: - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (recent graduate) - Strong programming experience in C and/or C++ - Working knowledge of data structures, operating systems, and embedded systems - Familiarity with Linux/Windows development environments - Excellent problem‑solving and debugging skills - Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment Preferred Skills: - Internship experience in SSD firmware, embedded systems, storage, or low‑level software - Exposure to NVMe, NAND flash, storage protocols, or embedded RTOS - Experience with Python or scripting for automation and validation - Experience using version control systems (Git) and code review workflows - Experience with AI or AI driven development methodology ## Additional Information Sandisk is committed to providing equal opportunities to all applicants and employees and will not discriminate against any applicant or employee based on their race, color, ancestry, religion (including religious dress and grooming standards), sex (including pregnancy, childbirth or related medical conditions, breastfeeding or related medical conditions), gender (including a person’s gender identity, gender expression, and gender-related appearance and behavior, whether or not stereotypically associated with the person’s assigned sex at birth), age, national origin, sexual orientation, medical condition, marital status (including domestic partnership status), physical disability, mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, protected medical and family care leave, Civil Air Patrol status, military and veteran status, or other legally protected characteristics. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California, Colorado and New York. This range may be modified in the future. - You will be eligible to participate in Sandisk's Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan, which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance. Depending on your role and your performance, you may be eligible to participate in our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents, pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan. Please note that not all roles are eligible to participate in the LTI program, and not all roles are eligible for equity under the LTI plan.
