Job Description

The City of Philadelphia's Office of Innovation & Technology is seeking an experienced Web Application Developer with a strong WordPress background to support a public-sector web application project. The role is primarily remote with onsite work as needed, and is open only to U.S. citizens who are local to Pennsylvania.

Key Responsibilities

Build secure, scalable, and high-performance web applications on WordPress
Develop and maintain features using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP
Implement and maintain WCAG AA accessibility standards across web properties
Work with translation frameworks to support multilingual content
Build responsive, mobile-first web experiences
Optimize site performance and apply security best practices
Test and maintain code following sound architectural patterns
Collaborate with cross-functional City stakeholders and communicate progress clearly

Requirements

10+ years of WordPress development experience
Strong expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP
Experience building secure, scalable, high-performance web applications
Knowledge of WCAG AA accessibility standards
Experience with translation frameworks and responsive/mobile-first development
Familiarity with performance optimization, security, testing, and architectural patterns
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Must be a U.S. citizen
Must be local to Pennsylvania
