Job Description

As a Platform Infrastructure Engineer II, you will architect and automate the global multi-region substrate for Akamai Functions. You will ensure our Kubernetes environments are provisioned deterministically and fully observable. Partner with the best As a Platform Infrastructure Engineer II, you will architect and automate the global multi-region substrate for Akamai Functions. You will ensure our Kubernetes environments are provisioned deterministically and fully observable. Additionally, you will build tooling to support developers and hand off stable platforms to SRE teams. As a Platform infrastructure Engineer II, you will be responsible for: - Architecting modular Terraform codebases to provision regional and global Kubernetes clusters deterministically - Packaging first-party infrastructure components using reliable, version-controlled manifests or custom Kubernetes operators - Engineering an observability foundation using OpenTelemetry and VictoriaMetrics for metrics, alerts, and tracing - Building disaster recovery tooling for seamless database backups, state replication, and rapid cluster recreation - Integrating new and existing shared Akamai infrastructure while transitioning away from legacy third-party systems - Supporting and expanding local and cloud-based development environments while collaborating with software engineers Do what you love To be successful in this role you will: - Have 2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or its equivalent - Have experience designing production-grade Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and managing Kubernetes environments - Possess solid skills in building observability pipelines with OpenTelemetry and metrics platforms - Have understanding of multi-region scaling and high-traffic system architecture - Be knowledgeable in developing, debugging, and supporting software application code alongside engineering teams About us At Akamai, we make life better for billions of people, trillions of times a day. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $95,000 - $171,000/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
