What We're Looking For:
Leads the architecture, design, and development of software solutions for the organization’s most complex and high impact projects. Drives long-term technical strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and competitive industry trends. Operates under consultative direction, setting and pursuing courses of action essential to achieve long-range business goals. Serves as a technical expert and mentor, influencing the organization’s technical direction and fostering innovation.
- Architects, designs, and leads the development and testing of native Android applications for our highly-complex technical projects.
- Creates software specifications and architectural designs for Android projects, ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, and adhere to best practices (e.g., MVVM/MVI, SOLID principles).
- Champions new thinking and creativity in team members to cultivate and retain top talent. Coaches others on how to effectively develop, communicate, and implement new mobile solutions.
- Prioritizes quality and seeks out improvements in all aspects of the software projects, including performance, security, and user experience.
- Maintains keen awareness of competitor products and development direction in the Android ecosystem to help direct designs to surpass the competition.
- Uses status as a developer of novel and creative solutions to build business and bring positive attention to technologies and services.
- Collaborates with other engineering disciplines to develop next-generation ideas and solutions that meet client needs before the competition.
- Acts as a prime consultant on large projects that affect the organization's long-term goals and objectives.
- Exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
- May supervise the activities of others and serves as a mentor for junior engineers.
Job Requirements
Preferred Education:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Key Skills and Competencies:
- 10+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 7+ years focused on native Android application development.
- Expert-level knowledge of Kotlin and Java.
- Deep understanding of the Android SDK, Android Studio, and the Gradle build system.
- Proven experience with modern Android development, including Jetpack libraries (Compose, ViewModel, LiveData, Room, Navigation).
- Strong knowledge of architectural patterns such as MVVM, MVI, and Clean Architecture.
- Experience with dependency injection frameworks like Dagger or Hilt.
- Proficiency in writing unit, integration, and UI tests (e.g., JUnit, Espresso, Mockito).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for mobile applications.
- A passion for leveraging the latest technologies and a proven track record of solving complex customer problems.
