Come grow with us…North American Stamping is expanding and looking to hire. We are looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to join our team! This position is responsible for maintaining customer and NASG quality standards and policies, supporting the plant team to resolve concerns, driving corrective and preventative actions and continuous improvements, and development of engineering and technical staff within the Quality department.North American Stamping Group is a privately held company founded in 1978. A Tier II supplier of components, systems and aftermarket products for the automotive industry with a core business market consisting of seating, ride control, exhaust components, heat shields, noise, vibration and harness (NVH), chassis and structural and window regulators. GENERAL SUMMARY The Senior Quality Engineer reports to the Quality Manager or designate. This position is responsible for customer satisfaction and acts as liaison between the customer and NASG. Responsible for maintaining customer and NASG quality standards and policies, supporting Manufacturing to resolve concerns, driving corrective and preventative actions and continuous improvements, and development of engineering and technical staff within the Quality department ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Support department training and development of engineers and technicians in problem solving improvement tools and communication methods Act as the customer contact for all quality issues and represent NASG as required to resolve issues Creation and maintenance of Control Plans, FMEA's, Flow Diagrams and In-Process Inspection documentation Provide guidance to Production group related to part inspection Aid in gage design reviews and purchase of applicable gages Assist production with inspection, SPC, gage use Participate in MRB review and product containment activity Lead Problem Solving activities for the timely resolution to internal and external CAR's and customer quality related issues Lead Corrective and Preventative teams, maintain and track Open Issues Logs CMM Operation and part verification to support NASG's quality system as necessary Perform weld / assembly validation (cut and etch, push-out, torque, tensile test, etc..) as required Perform annual validations / PPAP as required Perform routine inspections, dimensional studies, and investigations, as necessary Ensure proper containment procedures are followed when poor quality is detected Support manufacturing when abnormalities occur, solve the problem or escalate upward Ensure that all abnormalities to the standards are documented, escalated, and resolved while working together with Team Members to improve the standard for better Safety, Quality, and Productivity Provide support in the absence of the Quality Manager Participate in Layered Audit process Participate in New Product Development as necessary Support and assist EPC team by providing leadership and basic quality direction Support Internal / External / Customer audits as required Support Quality Manager in coordinating individual, team and plant improvement activities In addition to performing primary duties, the individual shall provide support where deemed necessary by Management MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelor's degree in metrology, industrial, mechanical, electrical or electronics engineering (Or relevant experience) Six Sigma Black Belt preferred Experience: 5 years manufacturing experience 3 years in automotive manufacturing 5 – 10 years cumulative in Quality functions Personal/Technical Skills: Master level understanding of Control Plans, FMEA's, Flow Diagrams and In-Process Inspection Master level knowledge of GD&T, SPC, Gage R&R, and gage use CMM Operation after programs and set up are established. Understanding of weld / assembly validation (cut and etch, push-out, torque, tensile test, etc.) APQP, PPAP, MSA, Core Tools Master level understanding of Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis. Detail oriented and able to work with minimal supervision. Strong leadership abilities. Demonstrate and model Hands-on, involved, Go-See approach Highly organized Strong Interpersonal communication skills Will have the ability to work schedule that allows completion of the job on a daily basis Language Skills: Able to clearly communicate in verbal or written forms and act as a liaison between Production and Quality Ability to speak and write in the primary language of the NASG facility of employment Computer/Software: Computer (PC) and Microsoft Office ShopEdge QCBD Minitab PC DMIS Customer Portals Training: Internal auditing Automotive Core Tools CMM operation Fundamentals of IATF 16949 Other Baseline items WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS Office: Open office environment Plant: Various types of manufacturing environments that include but not limited to: Stamping, Welding, Assembly, Grinding, Wash, Receiving, Shipping, Sorting Travel: Potential travel within Canada, Mexico and continental United States via automobile or plane, passport required PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Stand and walk for up to 12 hours Able to lift, carry, hold and manipulate loads up to 50 lbs Dexterity to manipulate product onto gages or gages onto parts Acceptable vision and hearing with or without appropriate prescribed aides Able to work within environment that has temperature fluctuations DISCLAIMERThis job description is intended to identify the general nature and level of work performed by associates within this classification, as well as certain essential job functions.
