The Software Development Engineer II – Backend will own the development and operation of backend services, APIs, and supporting infrastructure, building reliable, scalable, and maintainable systems that power Digantara's software platform. ### Ideal Candidate - 2–4 years of experience developing **production-grade backend applications** using Python or Node.js. - Strong expertise in **backend architecture, PostgreSQL, Linux, and containerized development workflows**. - Comfortable taking ownership of backend services from development through deployment while collaborating across engineering teams. ### Roles & Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services supporting web applications. - Build and maintain HTTP services and REST APIs using Python or Node.js. - Manage PostgreSQL databases, including schema design, administration, query optimization, backup strategies, and performance tuning. - Support Linux-based deployments, automation, and operational troubleshooting. - Build and maintain containerized development and deployment workflows using Docker. - Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions. - Write automation scripts using Bash to improve deployment and operational efficiency. - Collaborate closely with frontend engineers to deliver seamless end-to-end product functionality. - Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices. - Troubleshoot production issues and continuously improve platform reliability, scalability, and performance. ### Qualifications - B.E., B.Tech., or M.Tech. in Computer Science or a related discipline. - 2–4 years of backend software development experience. - Strong proficiency in Python and/or Node.js. - Strong understanding of HTTP protocols and REST API design. - Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL database administration and performance optimization. - Working knowledge of Linux, Docker, Bash scripting, and CI/CD using GitHub Actions. - Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to support cross-functional collaboration and end-to-end debugging. - Experience with Git and collaborative software development workflows. - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. ### Preferred Qualities - Experience working with React-based frontend applications. - Familiarity with messaging systems such as Kafka or NATS. - Understanding of authentication and authorization mechanisms including JWT, OAuth, and session-based authentication. - Experience with logging, monitoring, and production debugging practices. - Exposure to distributed systems and cloud-native application development. ### General Requirements - High ownership mindset with the ability to independently drive technical initiatives. - Strong collaboration and communication skills within cross-functional teams. - Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced engineering environment. - Commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and scalable code. - Willingness to continuously learn and adopt new technologies and engineering practices. ### Job Location: Client Location, Bengaluru
