Job Description

**This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior AI Engineer, Legal based in the United States.** The Senior AI Engineer, Legal will design and deliver advanced artificial intelligence solutions that transform legal and compliance operations at enterprise scale. This role sits at the intersection of software engineering, machine learning, and legal technology, creating innovative tools powered by large language models and modern AI architectures. The position offers the opportunity to solve complex business challenges by building secure, scalable, and impactful AI applications. Working closely with legal professionals, technology teams, and business stakeholders, the successful candidate will translate real-world workflows into trusted technical solutions. This is a high-impact role for an experienced AI engineer passionate about applying emerging technologies in regulated environments. The position combines technical leadership, product thinking, and innovation to improve how legal teams operate. ### Accountabilities: The Senior AI Engineer, Legal will be responsible for architecting, developing, and deploying AI-powered solutions that enhance legal workflows while ensuring quality, security, and enterprise scalability. - Partner with legal and compliance stakeholders to understand workflows, identify automation opportunities, and develop solutions that drive efficiency and adoption. - Design and build AI-powered applications supporting legal research, contract analysis, regulatory review, and compliance processes. - Develop end-to-end AI solutions using large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agentic AI frameworks. - Create and optimize document processing pipelines, including ingestion, parsing, chunking, embedding, indexing, and intelligent search capabilities. - Build production-ready AI features using clean, scalable, and maintainable code. - Develop and maintain evaluation frameworks, automated testing pipelines, and quality metrics to ensure reliable and defensible AI outputs. - Implement AI governance, security controls, access management, audit logging, privacy protections, and compliance practices for sensitive legal data. - Apply product-oriented thinking by gathering user feedback, defining technical requirements, and prioritizing improvements that deliver measurable value. - Lead technical discussions, provide mentorship, and support legal teams in adopting AI-driven solutions. - Serve as a bridge between legal, engineering, IT, and data teams to ensure successful delivery of enterprise AI initiatives. - Deliver demonstrations, training sessions, and technical guidance to support adoption and long-term success. ## Requirements: The ideal candidate is an experienced AI and software engineering professional with strong expertise in machine learning, enterprise applications, and emerging AI technologies, combined with an interest in legal or regulated environments. - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; advanced degrees are a plus. - 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering, machine learning engineering, or data science, with experience delivering production applications. - Hands-on experience building solutions with large language models, including prompt engineering, RAG architectures, fine-tuning, agent development, and AI evaluation frameworks. - Strong programming skills in Python, with experience using AI/ML frameworks and orchestration tools such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face, or equivalent technologies. - Experience with additional programming languages such as TypeScript or Java is a plus. - Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar solutions. - Knowledge of modern AI infrastructure, including vector databases, cloud platforms, APIs, Docker, Kubernetes, and scalable deployment practices. - Experience designing data pipelines and processing unstructured documents at scale, including parsing, OCR, classification, and entity extraction. - Understanding or experience in legal technology, compliance, regulatory environments, contract analytics, or legal operations. - Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams. - Ability to translate complex business needs into practical technical solutions. - Experience with regulated industries such as life sciences, healthcare, financial services, or legal technology is a plus. - Familiarity with agentic AI workflows, human-in-the-loop systems, tool calling, MCP servers, and structured outputs is advantageous. - Knowledge of responsible AI practices, model evaluation, explainability, bias testing, and AI governance frameworks is preferred. ## Benefits: - Competitive salary range of approximately $185,000–$200,000 depending on experience and qualifications. - Eligibility for bonus or incentive compensation. - Fully remote work opportunity within the United States. - Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans. - Paid time off and company holidays. - 401(k) retirement plan for eligible employees. - Flexible work arrangements designed to support work-life balance. - Opportunity to work on innovative AI initiatives with enterprise-level impact. - Exposure to cutting-edge technologies across artificial intelligence, legal operations, and compliance. - Professional growth opportunities within a collaborative and technology-driven environment. - Travel opportunities of approximately 10–25% for meetings and conferences. **How Jobgether works:** We use an **AI-powered matching process** to ensure your application is reviewed quickly, objectively, and fairly against the role's core requirements.
