- Design and maintain Appian XML framework artifacts, including workflows, definitions, and properties, as well as Java-based advanced development components supporting case management solutions.
- Coordinate iterative Appian release activities and schedules with the client development contractor; triage bugs and enhancement requests added to the application backlog following each release.
- Perform triage on all problem tickets to categorize as operational/maintenance issues (bug fixes), enhancement requests, or new development efforts beyond current scope; review triage decisions regularly with the COR.
- Own root cause analysis and timely resolution of all bugs introduced in releases while maintaining planned release schedules and operational activities.
- Drive the Change Control Board (CCB) submission and approval process for new releases; schedule and perform deployments upon CCB approval.
- Manage Team Foundation Server, Azure DevOps, and Help Desk ticketing system work items by eliminating duplicates, maintaining accurate status, and ensuring proper closure.
- Support Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) activities on assigned projects, including test procedure support and coordinated software remediation.
- Develop and maintain entity relationship diagrams, data dictionaries, technical documentation, user manuals, training materials, architecture documents, release documentation, and requirements documentation.
- Support the knowledge transfer period at contract start and provide risk briefings to the Project Manager covering business disruption, organizational alignment, and other identified risks.
- Provide 24x7 emergency response support for Fatal, Impaired, and Business Critical incidents.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field; Master's degree preferred. Additional years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for education requirements.
Required Experience and Skills:

- Minimum ten (10) years of enterprise software development experience, including at least five (5) years of hands-on Appian BPM platform development involving custom application development, administration, integration, and workflow automation.
- Active Appian Certified Senior Developer certification.
- Demonstrated experience with Appian XML framework components, including workflows, definitions, and properties, and Java for advanced Appian development.
- Experience maintaining Appian installations in self-managed customer environments.
- Experience with JBoss application server administration and deployment.
- Working knowledge of SQL, JavaScript, JSON, HTML, and XML.
- Experience with Git/GitHub source control, Azure DevOps (Boards, CI/CD pipelines, build and release management), and DevSecOps practices.
- Experience with Object-Oriented Design, Test-Driven Development, and Logical and Physical Data Modeling (Erwin or similar tools).
- Demonstrated experience leading O&M or sustainment efforts for mission-critical federal case management or workflow systems.
- Proven ability to interface with federal Contracting Officer's Representatives (CORs), Change Control Boards, and stakeholder prioritization meetings.
Preferred Skills:
- Prior federal regulatory agency experience.
