The ideal candidate has strong backend engineering experience with Node.js, modern database technologies, microservices architecture, and cloud platforms. You should enjoy solving complex engineering challenges, building systems from the ground up, and working in a fast-paced product environment. ### Key Responsibilities ### Backend Development - Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend services and RESTful APIs. - Build core platform modules and backend components that support mission-critical product functionality. - Develop reusable, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices. - Collaborate with frontend, product, and QA teams to deliver high-quality software. ### System Architecture & Scalability - Design scalable backend architectures capable of handling high traffic, low-latency requests, and real-time workloads. - Build and maintain microservices-based applications with strong focus on reliability and performance. - Improve application scalability through efficient architecture, caching, and asynchronous processing. - Evaluate and implement appropriate design patterns and architectural best practices. ### Database Engineering - Design and optimize database schemas for both relational and NoSQL databases. - Improve query performance through indexing, optimization, and efficient data modeling. - Manage data consistency, scalability, and high availability across distributed systems. - Work with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, or similar technologies. ### Cloud & Integrations - Deploy, monitor, and maintain backend services on cloud infrastructure. - Develop integrations with third-party services such as payment gateways, communication platforms, authentication providers, and external APIs. - Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support reliable software delivery. - Monitor application health, troubleshoot production issues, and optimize system performance. ### Technical Leadership - Participate in system design discussions and architectural decision-making. - Conduct code reviews and maintain high engineering standards. - Mentor junior developers and promote backend development best practices. - Create technical documentation and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. ### Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. - 4+ years of professional backend software development experience. - Strong expertise in Node.js using frameworks such as Express.js or NestJS. - Solid understanding of JavaScript and/or TypeScript. - Experience building scalable backend systems and microservices from scratch. - Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), Design Patterns, Data Structures, and Algorithms. - Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases. - Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS. - Experience building RESTful APIs and integrating third-party services. - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control, and modern software development practices. - Excellent debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills. - Strong communication and collaboration abilities. ### Preferred Qualifications - Experience in product-based organizations or fast-paced startup environments. - Exposure to distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and real-time applications. - Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or containerized deployments. - Knowledge of caching technologies such as Redis. - Familiarity with monitoring, observability, and performance optimization tools. ### Must-Have Skills - Node.js - SQL - Express.js / NestJS - JavaScript / TypeScript - Microservices - REST APIs - AWS - Backend Development - System Design - Database Design ### Good-to-Have Skills - MongoDB - PostgreSQL - MySQL - Redis - Docker - Kubernetes - CI/CD - Distributed Systems - Performance Optimization - API Integrations
