- Support production operations by troubleshooting issues, improving service reliability, and taking ownership of deployed systems.
- Develop and maintain services related to authentication, identity management, subscriptions, and payment workflows.
- Stay current with backend technologies and industry best practices while helping the team improve engineering processes.
**Requirements:**
- 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development.
- Proven experience building and maintaining production applications using Elixir.
- Experience with TypeScript and familiarity with modern software development practices.
- Basic system administration knowledge and experience working with production environments.
- Strong understanding of Git and GitHub workflows.
- Experience developing or maintaining authentication, identity management, payment, billing, or subscription systems is highly valuable.
- Experience operating production services, debugging live issues, and maintaining reliable systems at scale.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across distributed teams and communicate clearly in English, both written and spoken.
- Strong problem-solving skills, ownership mindset, and ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Comfortable working with teammates across time zones, with regular availability overlapping with Central European Time (CET) collaboration hours.
- Nice-to-have experience with NestJS, Terraform, Grafana, Python, frontend development, observability tools, incident response, or open-source projects.
**Benefits:**
- Competitive compensation package aligned with seniority, experience, and local market rates, including approximately 105,000 – 129,100 CAD for Canada-based candidates and 120,000 – 155,000 USD for US-based candidates.
- Fully remote work environment with flexible scheduling and location independence.
- Opportunity to work on impactful technology used by a global smart home community.
- Five weeks (25 days) of paid time off annually.
- Additional paid sick leave support where required by local regulations.
- Paid parental leave support, including six weeks paid and six weeks unpaid leave options.
- Budget for professional work hardware, with the possibility to keep equipment after three years.
- Annual smart home budget to explore and stay updated with the latest technologies.
- 50% contribution toward home workspace internet costs.
- Dedicated time for personal projects, including opportunities to maintain relevant open-source contributions during working hours.
