What you will be doing What will keep you busy - Design, develop, test, and maintain complex COBOL and CICS applications. - Build robust, scalable, and high-performing software solutions that support essential business operations. - Conduct code reviews and champion development best practices. - Investigate and resolve technical issues with a focus on quality and reliability. - Work closely with Business Analysts, client stakeholders, and development teams to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions. - Support project planning, estimation, and delivery activities alongside Project Managers. - Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives. - Build trusted relationships with clients by providing technical expertise and responsive support. - Integrate new functionality into established enterprise platforms. - Identify opportunities to improve application performance, maintainability, and operational efficiency. - Contribute ideas that help modernise and optimise existing systems and processes. - Produce high-quality technical documentation. - Mentor team members and contribute to a culture of learning and collaboration. - Partner with QA teams to ensure solutions are thoroughly tested and meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. The skills you will bring Technical Expertise - 10+ years' experience developing and supporting enterprise Mainframe applications. - Strong hands-on experience with: - COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, SQL, MQ, Easytrieve - Deep understanding of Mainframe environments and associated technologies. - Experience working within Agile and Scrum delivery frameworks. - Banking or financial services experience is highly desirable. - Proven track record delivering and supporting complex business-critical applications.
