This role is for one of Weekday’s clients Min Experience: 6+ years Location: Banglaore JobType: full-time ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  COBOL / AS400 (IBM i) Development:  Design, develop, and enhance COBOL applications on AS400 (IBM i) platform.  Build new modules and functionalities based on business requirements.  Refactor and optimize existing code for performance, scalability, and maintainability.  Follow structured programming practices and modular design principles.  Design and implement DB2 database structures, including physical and logical files.  Write efficient embedded SQL within COBOL programs.  Perform query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning.  Ensure efficient data access and processing strategies. Required Skills & Experience:  6–10 years of hands-on experience in COBOL development on AS400 (IBM i).  Strong expertise in DB2 and embedded SQL.  Experience with CL programming and job execution.  Strong understanding of batch processing and file handling.  Solid experience in application development, enhancement, and performance tuning.  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Regular Tasks Required:  Translate business requirements into high-quality technical solutions.  Write clean, efficient, and well-documented COBOL code.  Conduct unit testing and support integration testing activities.  Participate in code reviews and enforce coding standards.  Create and maintain technical documentation (design specs, program logic, workflows).  Collaborate with cross-functional teams (analysts, QA, architects) to deliver features.  Continuously improve code quality and development practices. Useful but non mandatory skills:  Experience with IBM i modernization initiatives.  Exposure to RPG / ILE concepts.  Familiarity with API integration or enabling legacy systems for modern interfaces.  Experience with version control and change management tools - Aldon. QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:  Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)  At least 6+ years of relevant experience as a Cobol developer on AS400 (IBM i)  Excellent communication abilities to work with stakeholders and developers successfully  Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills  Fluent in conversational and written English communication skills ### Must-have skills COBOL, AS400, DB2 ### Good-to-have skills Embedded SQL, CL Programming, Aldon
