# Senior Data Engineer (Azure Data Platform & Data Warehousing) ## Location Belgium (Hybrid – Remote work available) ## Contract - Start Date: 20 July 2026 - End Date: 31 March 2027 - Full-time (100%) - Approx. 1,000 hours ## About the Role We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to support the development of a modern Azure-based data platform. You will design, build, and optimize data warehouse solutions that transform incoming application data into scalable analytical models for business reporting. The role involves building data products, creating dimensional data models, enabling Power BI reporting, and contributing to data quality and machine learning initiatives. ## Key Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain enterprise data warehouse solutions. - Build scalable ETL/data integration pipelines. - Develop dimensional (star schema) data models for analytics. - Process message-based data ingestion into an Azure data platform. - Build and optimize Azure Synapse and Databricks solutions. - Deliver datasets and reporting models for Power BI. - Work with metadata management and database design. - Participate in Agile delivery while providing technical leadership. - Collaborate with business stakeholders to deliver analytical data products. - Support initiatives related to data quality and machine learning. ## Required Skills & Experience - Minimum 5 years' experience in Data Warehouse Modelling. - Experience working on data warehouse projects or formal training in data warehouse modelling. - Strong experience planning, designing, and building enterprise data warehouse solutions. - Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics. - Experience with Azure DevOps. - Experience with Databricks. - Experience with message-based data ingestion. - Strong knowledge of: - Data warehouse concepts, architectures, and best practices. - ETL/Data Integration. - BI and Reporting. - Databases and metadata management. - Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments. - Native-level Dutch (CEFR C2) is mandatory. ## Preferred Experience - Experience as a Data Architect. - Experience creating dimensional/star schema models. - Experience with Power BI. - Experience with Cognos and/or DataStage. - Experience within the public sector. - Experience within the waste management/environmental sector. - Experience working within a regional or government organization. ## Nice to Have - Exposure to machine learning projects. - Experience building analytical data products on Azure. - Strong stakeholder communication and collaboration skills. ## Work Arrangement - Hybrid working model. - Remote work available with on-site collaboration when required. ## Language Requirement - Dutch (CEFR C2) – Mandatory.
