Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Data Scientist - Computer Vision based in Canada.
This role offers the opportunity to apply advanced artificial intelligence and deep learning techniques to solve complex real-world challenges.
You will develop and deploy state-of-the-art computer vision models that transform large-scale imagery and geospatial data into actionable insights.
Working within a collaborative Data Science and Machine Learning environment, you will help shape innovative solutions with meaningful societal impact.
You will contribute across the full machine learning lifecycle, from research and dataset development to production deployment and optimization.
The position combines technical depth, scientific exploration, and practical problem-solving in a fast-moving technology environment.
You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams while helping advance next-generation AI capabilities for risk assessment and decision-making.
### Accountabilities:
As a Senior Data Scientist specializing in computer vision, you will lead the development of advanced machine learning solutions by designing, training, and deploying deep learning models. You will work across data science, engineering, and product teams to transform complex datasets into reliable, scalable AI-driven products.
- Explore diverse data sources and develop innovative PropertyTech and InsurTech models using machine learning and deep learning techniques.
- Research, design, implement, and optimize deep learning algorithms and architectures for computer vision applications.
- Build and maintain high-quality datasets to support effective model training, validation, and evaluation.
- Work with imagery sources such as aerial imagery and geospatial data to extract meaningful insights.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business, product, and engineering needs into actionable data science solutions.
- Deploy, monitor, and optimize deep learning models in production environments.
- Contribute to improving data science practices, workflows, and technical processes.
- Mentor and support junior team members through coaching, feedback, and knowledge sharing.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
## Requirements:
You are an experienced data science professional with strong expertise in computer vision, deep learning, and production machine learning systems. You have a passion for solving complex technical problems and can work independently while collaborating effectively within a dynamic, innovative environment.
- 5+ years of experience applying machine learning techniques to computer vision applications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related technical field; Master’s or PhD is a plus.
- Strong understanding of image processing, machine learning, deep learning, and artificial intelligence principles.
- Extensive hands-on experience designing and implementing deep learning models.
- Experience deploying machine learning and deep learning models into production environments.
- Strong proficiency in Python and experience with frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Experience using computer vision and data science libraries including OpenCV, Pillow, Matplotlib, and Plotly.
- Knowledge of data preprocessing and augmentation techniques for large-scale image datasets; experience with aerial or satellite imagery is an advantage.
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform or AWS.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git and collaborative development workflows.
- Experience working with BigQuery and SQL.
- Familiarity with generative AI coding tools such as Claude Code and Cursor.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to establish effective processes and best practices.
- Experience mentoring junior team members and supporting team development.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
