Job Description
# What it's all about
The Team
We're a tech team that happens to be scattered across time zones and countries — yet somehow feels like one tight-knit crew. Multinational by nature, obsessive about technology by choice, we're the people making sure our rapidly growing global portal doesn't just survive its own growth, but thrives on it.
Your Role
As Senior DevOps Engineer on our Portal Infrastructure team, you're stepping into a role built for real impact. Our infrastructure is the backbone that lets the rest of the business move quickly and confidently, and we're looking for someone who can make that backbone stronger, smarter, and ready for scale.
This isn't a maintenance role - it's a growth opportunity, for infrastructure and for you.
What You'll Be Doing
- Keeping our web applications and services running smoothly, spotting and fixing bottlenecks before they become problems.
- Optimizing performance and cost across our systems, using the latest tools and approaches rather than settling for "good enough."
- Scaling our infrastructure to comfortably support a steadily growing, worldwide user base.
- Refining our deployment and release processes so shipping code feels fast, safe, and boring (in the best way).
- Helping product teams set up and improve CI/CD pipelines in GitLab, so they can move at their own pace.
- Partnering closely with development teams - you're not working in a silo, you're working with people.
- Collaborating daily with an international crew of engineers who bring different perspectives and time zones to the table.
- In your first 3 months, becoming a go-to person for infrastructure support and taking ownership of key maintenance tasks.
- By month 6, being fully ramped up and ready to join the on-call rotation.
What You'll Need
- 4+ years of experience operating large-scale, distributed systems in production.
- Expert-level Linux administration skills, including storage and networking.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, and comfort working with classic data center environments too.
- Proven ability deploying and managing applications with Kubernetes and Docker.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Solid, practical knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery.
- Experience delivering infrastructure services across multiple countries.
- A high bar for quality, strong sense of ownership, and genuine team spirit.
Nice If You Have
- Experience scaling services using GeoRouting.
- Some coding experience — it's not required, but it's a real bonus.
The Tech?
- A modern, varied tech stack to sink your teeth into: apps built on PHP, Python, Golang, Apache2, Nginx, and HAProxy.
- Exposure to AI tooling including Anthropic, Google, and Langfuse.
- A robust data layer - MySQL (Percona), PostgreSQL, Redis, and RabbitMQ.
- Cloud infrastructure built on AWS (EKS, ECS, RDS, ELB, CloudWatch, CloudFront, and more) plus Cloudflare.
- A DevOps toolkit including GitLab, Kubernetes, Rancher, and Terraform.
- Daily scripting in Bash and Python.
- A serious monitoring setup - Prometheus, the EFK stack, Grafana, Nagios, and Loki.
- Deep Linux exposure across on-premise, networking, file systems, and Docker environments.
What You Can Expect On Board
- A genuinely international team culture where personal connection matters just as much as professional collaboration.
- The freedom to choose your preferred equipment so you can work comfortably and effectively.
- Competitive compensation aligned with your expertise and impact.
- A diverse, supportive team culture that values openness, collaboration, and fresh ideas.
- Opportunities for professional growth through learning resources, training, and conference support.
- Memorable team experiences, from European meetups to our annual company summer getaway.
- The excitement of a startup mindset combined with the stability of a well-established company.
If you love solving hard infrastructure problems, thrive on making systems faster and more resilient, and want your work to directly speed up how quickly great products reach the world, we'd love to hear from you. Come help us build the backbone our global growth stands on.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep web applications and services running smoothly by identifying and fixing bottlenecks.
- Optimize performance and cost across systems using modern tools and approaches.
- Scale infrastructure to support a growing worldwide user base.
- Refine deployment and release processes to ensure fast, safe, and reliable shipping.
- Help product teams set up and improve CI/CD pipelines in GitLab.
- Partner with development teams to collaborate on infrastructure tasks.
- Collaborate daily with an international crew of engineers.
- Become a go-to person for infrastructure support and take ownership of key maintenance tasks.
- Join the on-call rotation by month 6.
