Job Description

Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding, a Fincantieri Marine Group company, is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer at our Sturgeon Bay, WI location. Position Summary The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership and engineering expertise in support of vessel construction and repair projects. This position develops practical, cost-effective electrical engineering solutions while collaborating with engineering, production, project management, customers, vendors, and regulatory agencies to ensure successful project execution. The Senior Electrical Engineer provides both office-based design support and hands-on shipyard support to verify installations, resolve technical issues, and ensure electrical systems meet project requirements, quality standards, and applicable regulations. Domestic travel may be required. Essential Functions - Develop, review, and issue quality electrical engineering deliverables, including calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, engineering change notices (ECNs), and other technical documentation. - Design and support marine electrical systems for vessel construction and repair projects while ensuring compliance with project requirements, customer specifications, and applicable regulations. - Provide engineering support in the shipyard by reviewing electrical installations, verifying work accuracy, resolving field issues, answering production questions, and assisting with testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities. - Coordinate assigned engineering activities with production, project management, vendors, and other engineering disciplines to support project schedules, budgets, and successful vessel delivery. - Other duties as assigned Required Skills - Ability to develop, review, and interpret complex electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and other electrical engineering documentation. - Working knowledge of marine electrical systems, shipbuilding practices, and applicable rules and regulations including ABS, USCG, SOLAS, and associated regulatory agencies. - Proficiency with AutoCAD, Cadmatic, ShipConstructor, EPLAN, ETAP, or similar engineering software, with experience supporting electrical design and analysis. - Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills - Must have strong organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills - Must have ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor - Must adhere to ISO and OSHA policies established by FMG and have high values for safety awareness Education and Experience - Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience - 6 Years of experience required - Six Sigma or LEAN certification preferred Competencies Fincantieri's core competencies reflect our values and key behavioral expectations for all employees: - Open Mindset: Identify and solve problems, embrace change, and seek continuous learning - Strategic Leadership: Build trust, unity, and accountability while working toward shared goals - Accomplishment: Take ownership, deliver results, and ensure customer satisfaction - Social Connection: Collaborate, communicate, and value diversity and inclusion Physical Demands and Work Environment While performing job duties, the employee is frequently required to sit and occasionally stand or walk; use hands and arms to grasp, reach and type; stoop or kneel; and speak or hear.
