Position Summary
The Senior Engineer Technician is responsible for producing accurate, cost-effective structural design deliverables that support ship construction using functional design documentation and engineering requirements. This position develops construction deliverables that support fabrication and production by applying structural design principles, 3D modeling, and engineering standards. The Senior Engineer Technician assists in determining technical requirements, meeting project schedules, and resolving production-related design issues within the field of competence.
Domestic travel may be required.
Essential Functions
- Develop and maintain detailed 3D structural models using ShipConstructor and other applicable structural design software
- Generate accurate 2D production drawings and construction deliverables from 3D models and engineering documentation.
- Process structural parts, including nesting activities, to support fabrication and production requirements.
- Apply structural design knowledge to develop quality construction deliverables and resolve production-related design issues
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills
- Proficiency in 3D structural modeling, 2D drawing extraction, and structural design using AutoCAD, Navisworks, ShipConstructor, or similar CAD software
- Working knowledge of structural shipbuilding practices, applicable shipbuilding rules and regulations, and associated regulatory agencies
- Knowledge of structural part processing, nesting practices, and production documentation for ship construction, with basic Earned Value Management System (EVMS) competency
- Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills
- Must have strong organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills
- Must have ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor
- Must adhere to ISO and OSHA policies established by FMG and have high values for safety awareness
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- 2 Years of experience required
- Six Sigma or LEAN certification is a plus

Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing job duties, the employee is frequently required to sit and occasionally stand or walk; use hands and arms to grasp, reach and type; stoop or kneel; and speak or hear. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. The position is primarily performed in a quiet, climate-controlled environment with minimal exposure to moving equipment, elements, or risk of injury. When entering the shipyard, there may be exposure to moving equipment, elements, or risk of injury.
