The successful candidate will have strong experience developing modern web applications and distributed services using TypeScript, Node.js, Java/Kotlin, and Spring Boot, while working within an agile product delivery environment. This role requires hands-on development expertise, strong software engineering practices, and the ability to collaborate closely with Product Owners, Architects, DevOps Engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions. **Key Responsibilities** - Design, develop, test, and deploy full-stack applications and microservices. - Build responsive web applications and APIs using TypeScript and Node.js. - Develop robust backend services using Java/Kotlin and Spring Boot. - Integrate applications with cloud-native storage and services, including Amazon S3. - Design and implement RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures. - Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following engineering best practices. - Participate in solution design, code reviews, technical workshops, and architectural discussions. - Optimize application performance, scalability, security, and reliability. - Collaborate with DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployments. - Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of production issues. - Contribute to technical standards, development frameworks, and reusable components. **Must-Have Qualifications** A successful candidate will typically have 5+ years of software engineering experience, with proven expertise in building scalable, cloud-native applications **Backend Development** - Strong commercial experience with: - **Java and/or Kotlin** - **Spring Boot** - Building REST APIs and microservices architectures - Dependency injection and enterprise application design patterns **Full Stack Development** - Extensive experience with: - **TypeScript** - **Node.js** - Modern front-end frameworks such as **React**, Angular, or Vue.js - API integration and full-stack application development **Database Technologies** - Experience with relational **and/or** NoSQL databases such as: - PostgreSQL - MySQL - MongoDB - DynamoDB **Engineering Practices** - Strong understanding of: - Agile delivery methodologies - CI/CD pipelines - Automated testing - Git version control - Secure coding practices - Performance tuning and monitoring **Nice-to-Have** - Experience in the UK financial sector or financial sector in general.
