The role requires strong backend expertise, full-stack awareness, and the ability to use AI-enabled engineering practices to deliver mission-critical capabilities. - Analyze complex business challenges and translate them into clear technical specifications that enable efficient AI-assisted software development. - Design, develop, and maintain backend domain services using TypeScript and Node.js, including business workflows, lifecycle management, pricing logic, and payment-related functionality. - Extract, understand, and modernize complex business rules from legacy Java and PL/SQL systems into maintainable, test-driven architectures. - Build reliable financial-grade systems with append-only audit trails, access controls, segregation-of-duties enforcement, and reproducible calculations. - Deliver complete software capabilities across the stack, collaborating on frontend development, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and deployment processes. - Develop and maintain REST APIs, backend services, database integrations, and scalable application components. - Build and support cloud-based solutions using AWS services and infrastructure-as-code practices. - Maintain high engineering standards through code reviews, automated testing, continuous integration, and secure development practices. - Support always-available beta environments that enable rapid feedback, iteration, and alignment with business stakeholders. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure solutions meet technical, operational, and mission requirements. ## Requirements: The ideal candidate is a senior software engineer with extensive experience building production-grade web systems and a strong interest in AI-driven development methodologies. They should be comfortable working across backend technologies, cloud platforms, and modern software engineering practices. - Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain a U.S. SECRET security clearance. - 7+ years of experience designing, developing, and operating production web applications. - Professional experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or similar technologies within software engineering workflows. - Strong proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, and PostgreSQL. - Experience building and maintaining REST APIs and modern backend services. - Experience with ORMs such as Prisma or similar database abstraction frameworks. - Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS, including deployment, security, and operational best practices. - Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing strategies, and modern software delivery practices. - Ability to work across the full software ecosystem, including application development, infrastructure, and security considerations. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand complex systems and business processes.
