Job Description

## Description The Senior Grant & Request for Proposal (RFP) Developer serves as the lead grant development professional for EmberHope and is responsible for developing and managing a comprehensive grants and RFP strategy that supports the organization's strategic priorities and revenue goals. This position oversees the full lifecycle of corporate, foundational and individual grants and governmental RFP development, including prospect research, vetting grant funders, relationship cultivation, proposal development, submission; assists program directors with reporting, collaborate internally to assist in compliance, stewardship, and evaluation. The Senior Grant & RFP Developer collaborates with executive leadership, program directors, finance, quality improvement, marketing, and development staff to secure funding from government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other institutional funders. This position serves as a subject matter expert on grants management and proposal development while improving organizational grant systems and processes. EmberHope is a faith-based child welfare organization committed to helping children and families thrive through excellence, collaboration, innovation, and compassionate service. To be a successful Grant Developer you must be able to do the following always: Grant & RFP Strategy - Lead the organization's institutional fundraising strategy in partnership with executive leadership. - Develop annual grant and RFP calendars aligned with organizational funding priorities. - Identify, evaluate, and prioritize federal, state, local, corporate, and foundation funding opportunities. - Research emerging funding trends and recommend strategic opportunities. - Develop multi-year funding strategies for key organizational initiatives. Proposal Development - Lead proposal generation process including; coordinating with key staff to produce and submit compelling high-quality proposals - Manage the entire proposal development process from planning through submission. - With key staff, write compelling narratives supported by data, program outcomes, budgets, and evaluation plans. - Coordinate proposal timelines and ensure deadlines are met. - Develop proposal templates, boilerplate language, and reusable grant resources. - Ensure proposals accurately reflect organizational priorities, strategic plans, and program outcomes. - Coordinate letters of support, attachments, certifications, and required documentation. Government & Competitive RFP Development - Lead key staff in the development of government competitive procurement responses. - Interpret RFP requirements and collaborate internally to ensure organizational compliance. - Coordinate cross-functional proposal teams. - Develop response matrices and compliance checklists. - Manage proposal production and final submission. - Maintain knowledge of procurement regulations and grant compliance requirements. Grants Management & Compliance - With key staff, collaborate internally to oversee the post-award grant management process. - Track grant deliverables, reporting deadlines, budgets, and compliance requirements. - Coordinate with Finance to reconcile grant expenditures and budgets. - Assist program directors with preparing interim and final grant reports. - Maintain complete grant files and documentation. - Monitor grant performance and identify potential compliance risks. Research & Prospect Development - Conduct ongoing research to identify new funding opportunities. - Evaluate funding alignment with organizational programs. - Build and maintain a robust institutional funding pipeline. - Monitor foundation trends, government opportunities, and philanthropic initiatives. Data Collection & Evaluation - Collaborate with program leadership, finance, and QA/PI to collect outcome data. - Work with Finance to obtain financial information required for proposals and reports. - Assist program directors in developing data collection systems supporting grant reporting. - With key leadership and QA/PI, analyze program outcomes and incorporate findings into future proposals. - Assist departments in developing measurable objectives and evaluation plans. Relationship Management - Cultivate positive relationships with foundation and corporate funders. - Coordinate stewardship activities including reports, acknowledgements, site visits, and impact updates. - Represent EmberHope during meetings with institutional funders. - Assist leadership in preparing presentations and funding discussions. Grant Team Leadership - Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Grant Developers and other development staff. - Review and edit grant proposals prepared by junior staff. - Establish internal proposal development processes and quality standards. - Facilitate proposal planning meetings. - Serve as the organization's internal expert on grants management and proposal writing. Database & Systems Management - Maintain accurate grant records within Customer Relationship Management (CRM)/database systems - Track proposal submissions, awards, declines, reporting schedules, and prospect activity. - Generate grant pipeline reports for leadership. - Assist in developing dashboards and funding forecasts. Cross-Department Collaboration - Partner with executive leadership to identify funding priorities. - Work collaboratively with Finance, Programs, Marketing, and Quality Improvement. - With key staff, ensure messaging remains consistent across grants, marketing, and donor communications. - Support strategic organizational initiatives requiring institutional funding. Organizational Responsibilities - Follow all Company Policies and Procedures. - Support EmberHope's mission, vision, values, and faith-based culture. - Maintain confidentiality. - Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development. - Perform other duties as assigned. How you will spend your time in this job: - 50% Grant and RFP Writing & Proposal Development - 20% Strategic Grant Management & Compliance - 15% Prospect Research & Pipeline Development - 10% Cross-Department Collaboration & Data Collection - 5% Leadership, Training & Continuous Improvement ## Requirements To qualify for this job, you need to have: 1. Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, public administration, communications, English, business administration, social work, human services, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred. 2. Minimum 5 years of professional experience in grant writing and fundraising, with successful track record for securing significant multi-year commitments from institutional donors 3. Superior knowledge of and proven experience writing proposals to large corporate, foundation and government donors, and an understanding of technical and financial requirements for large grants. 4. Demonstrated history of securing six- and seven-figure grants. Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills. 5. Strong project management and organizational abilities. 6. Ability to successfully execute multiple, simultaneous projects on time with quality results 7. Ability to thrive in fast-paced environment and work collaboratively with staff located on- and off-site 8. Strong analytical and research skills. 9. Advanced Microsoft Office programs proficiency. 10. Experience tracking communication and donor activity in a CRM/database systems. 11. Ability to work independently while leading collaborative proposal teams. 12. Ability to travel and operate a motor vehicle.
