Before anything gets built, teams need confidence that a design is going to work: structurally, thermally, aerodynamically, etc. Simulation is one of the main ways they build that confidence. But the way teams share and review simulation results to make decisions is still pretty broken. Engineers are exporting videos, taking screenshots, dropping them into PowerPoint, and then trying to make decisions through email threads, meetings, or disconnected slide decks. The actual decision-making ends up separated from the underlying simulation data, which means context gets lost, feedback is hard to trace, and important engineering knowledge disappears into the workflow. CoLab already helps engineering teams review CAD, capture feedback, and make better design decisions in one connected workspace. Now we’re extending that same idea into simulation. The goal is simple: make simulation results collaborative, reviewable, and traceable in the same way CoLab does for CAD today. We’re starting a new product team focused on bringing simulation review into CoLab. As one of the first engineers on that team, you’ll help define how simulation data gets ingested, visualized, discussed, and connected back to real engineering decisions. There are a lot of interesting technical problems here: large datasets, high-performance visualization, viewer interactions, data pipelines, and user experiences that need to work for mechanical engineers doing critical product development work. The first phase is about learning the product, the customers, and the review workflows we already support today. You’ll spend time embedded with our Engineering Reviews team, learning how engineers collaborate in CoLab, where the current product is strong, and where simulation creates a new set of problems we need to solve. From there, you’ll help build the foundation for a new Simulation team - not just technically, but from a product perspective as well. We want to build something customers actually need and will use in their day-to-day work, and that requires a highly product oriented approach. ### Our Ideal Candidate You're the kind of developer who wants to understand why a feature matters before deciding how to build it. You enjoy owning complex technical problems, but you also enjoy talking with product managers, designers, and customers to understand what success actually looks like. You make thoughtful technical decisions independently and know when to bring others into the conversation. Experience working with simulation software is a significant advantage. Maybe you've worked with FEA, CFD, multiphysics simulations, scientific visualization, or engineering data platforms. You understand the kinds of problems engineers are trying to solve. This is a good fit for someone who likes ambiguity, wants to work closely with our product and leadership teams, and cares about the connection between technical decisions and customer value. You’ll have a meaningful role in shaping both the architecture and the user experience for a new capability that we think can become a major part of engineering review in CoLab. ### What You'll Do - Help design and build CoLab's next-generation simulation review capabilities. - Build services that ingest and process simulation data from industry-standard engineering software. - Develop high-performance visualization experiences capable of displaying large simulation datasets. - Partner closely with Product, Design, and customers to validate ideas before building them. - Spend time embedded with the Engineering Reviews team to develop deep product and customer understanding before transitioning onto the Simulation team. - Contribute to architectural decisions that will shape this product area for years to come. - Improve performance, scalability, and reliability as simulation capabilities grow. - Collaborate with engineers across the platform to ensure simulation becomes a seamless part of the broader CoLab experience. ### Qualifications We're looking for someone with: - 8+ years building production software in a modern engineering environment. - Strong experience designing scalable backend systems and customer-facing applications. - Experience building complex data visualization or graphics-intensive applications. - The ability to work independently while collaborating closely with teammates. - A product mindset - you think about customer outcomes as much as technical implementation. - Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex ideas clearly. - Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA), CFD, or other CAE workflows. - Experience with engineering simulation platforms - Experience with CAD, PLM, or engineering software development. - Large engineering datasets and high-performance rendering. ### The Extra Details - Full-time, permanent position with a competitive compensation package, including stock options. - Extended health benefits, unlimited paid vacation, and RRSP/401K matching. - Remote-first across North America ### Equity Note Frequently cited statistics show that people who identify with historically marginalized groups are likely to apply to jobs only if they meet 100% of the qualifications.
