# About Till Till is a banking platform built for families - debit cards, accounts, and tools that help parents raise financially capable kids. We were recently acquired by Western & Southern Financial Group, a Fortune 500 company with $132 billion in assets under ownership and management and 6.3 million customers across its family of insurance, investment, and retirement businesses. Most consumer fintech assumes one person managing their own money. Families don't work that way. A kid finishes a chore, an allowance fires, a parent sets up a savings goal, a card swipes at checkout - all hitting one shared ledger, with separate kid and parent app experiences staying in sync. The product has to feel obvious to an eight-year-old, calm to a parent watching from work, flexible enough for how real families actually work - blended households, multiple guardians, teens growing into young adults - and rigorous enough for financial services built for minors. We also reach families through partners across a range of categories, which means the platform has to flex without losing coherence. The acquisition gives us the capital and long-term backing to grow into a category leader while preserving the lean, senior engineering culture that got us here. The team is small enough that your work shapes the product directly, with the stability of a 130+ year-old parent company behind it. Our engineering organization is senior, deliberately small, and built around people who ship across the stack and own outcomes end-to-end. # The Opportunity This is a rare chance to join a mission-driven fintech at a genuine inflection point. With the backing of Western & Southern Financial Group, we have the runway and resources to build ambitiously - while staying small, lean, and focused. You’ll have real ownership and real impact from day one. The first 3-6 months will be greenfield heavy. You’ll own medium-to-large projects end-to-end: technical design, implementation across our Go backend and React/React Native frontends, deployment, and the hard parts that come after deployment. Our codebase is built on hexagonal/onion architecture. You’ll be productive in it within your first three months, which means you’ve worked in patterns like this before and don’t need to be sold on why it matters. # What You’ll Do ## Platform & Product Engineering - Own medium-to-large features from technical design through production - across backend services, APIs, and consumer-facing web and mobile surfaces. - Lead technical design discussions and architecture reviews. Inform higher-level decisions about how our systems evolve as we scale with new institutional backing. ## Payments & Financial Systems - Ship money movement and payments features that have to be correct the first time - and stay correct under load, across multiple banking partners and rails. - Work within the constraints of real financial software: compliance, auditability, idempotency, and zero-tolerance for data loss. - Contribute to ledger design and transaction reconciliation as we scale to a larger combined user base. ## Production Ownership - Carry full production responsibility: on-call rotation, performance and cost work, and the testing rigor (unit, integration, contract) that financial software requires. - Translate ambiguous product requirements into clear technical scope and shippable plans. Push back when scope or timeline doesn’t add up. - Mentor other engineers in code review and design review. Raise the bar without being precious about it. # What We’re Looking For ## Required - At least 5 years of production Go experience - You’ve shipped and operated Go services - not just read the tour. - Experience with idiomatic Go patterns: interfaces, goroutines, context propagation, error handling. - Strong React + TypeScript on the web. - You’ve shipped a consumer mobile app to production (React Native or native). React Native is learnable on the job. - Experience owning medium-to-large features end-to-end, with working knowledge of the systems your code touches beyond your own service. - Experience building in hexagonal, onion, or comparable layered architectures. - A track record of partnering closely with product, design, and business stakeholders - especially turning fuzzy requirements into something you can actually build. - You’ve operated under the constraints of money movement before. You’ll navigate both - and help us migrate intelligently. - Post-acquisition growth phase.
