Job Description
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. 8 years of experience in software development. 7 years of experience with full stack development, across back-end such as Java, Python, GO, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent. 5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products. Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms. 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction. 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects. Experience designing, building, or implementing cutting-edge machine learning (ML) and developer-focused tooling. Experience developing and scaling high-performance developer tools, environments, or platforms.

Responsibilities Set the overarching technical goals, roadmap, and architectural decisions to ensure Colab continues as the premier notebook platform inside and outside Google. Collaborate closely with product, user experience (UX), and partner engineering teams to seamlessly align technical execution with product strategy and goals. Oversee the scalability, reliability, security, and overall engineering excellence of all Colab systems and infrastructure. Scale team velocity and performance continuously by advocating and implementing the best engineering tools and practices. Mentor, guide, and develop executive engineers and technical leads (TLs) actively within the Colab organization to build a strong engineering culture.
