Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. 8 years of experience programming in C++. 5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products. Experience with cloud computing, cloud APIs and control planes. Experience with software architecture and scalability. Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms. 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction. Experience in long-term technology tests across interdependent services, including scalability, maintainability, deployability, reliability, and supportability. Experience in driving software architecture evolution both tactically and strategically. Ability to influence across multiple teams and geos.

Responsibilities Define product differentiating features in an ambiguous problem space. Build high-impact customer-facing features which make Cloud Dataproc the best place to run Hadoop and Spark in the cloud. Make Cloud Dataproc the best product for data science and engineering workloads. Influence and oversee across Big-Data open-source initiatives including contributions to Spark, Flink, Presto etc.
