## Responsibilities We are seeking a talented Software Developer to join a dynamic team developing advanced data collection and surveillance solutions that support the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In this role, you will participate in the full software development lifecycle—from requirements gathering and design through development, testing, deployment, and production support. The ideal candidate is passionate about developing scalable, enterprise-level web applications using Java technologies and enjoys working in a collaborative Agile environment. Key Responsibilities: - Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain enterprise web applications using Java/JEE technologies. - Develop responsive web applications using JavaScript, JSP, JSTL, Bootstrap, jQuery, HTML5, JSON, and Spring Framework. - Build and consume RESTful and SOAP web services. - Develop and optimize SQL Server database objects, including stored procedures, views, and scripts. - Utilize Git repositories and GitHub Actions for source control, collaboration, and deployment automation. - Apply object-oriented design principles and industry-standard design patterns. - Develop applications using AJAX and modern JavaScript libraries. - Ensure applications comply with Section 508 accessibility standards. - Create and maintain technical documentation, system requirements, and software specifications. - Design reports and data visualizations using BIRT, Apache Velocity Templates, and Power BI. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet CDC and HHS standards. - Participate in code reviews, estimation, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. ## Qualifications Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience or a HS Diploma and 9 years of experience. - Minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience. - At least 5 years of experience designing and developing Java/JEE web applications. - Experience with Spring Framework, JavaScript, HTML5, JSP, JSTL, Bootstrap, and jQuery. - Experience developing RESTful and SOAP web services. - Strong knowledge of SQL Server, JDBC, relational databases, and database design. - Experience using Git for version control. - Familiarity with XML and enterprise application integration. - Experience using MyEclipse IDE. - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. - Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team. - Must be a US Citizen - Must be able to obtain and maintain the required agency clearance. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
