Position Summary
Odyssey is recruiting for a Software Engineer to support the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) Cheyenne Mountain Complex-Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (NCMC-ITW/AA) and CCIC2S Enterprise Networks within the Strategic Warning and Surveillance Systems Acquisition Delta.
Program: The NCMC-ITW/AA effort sustains unique ITW/AA Cheyenne Mountain systems, networks, and associated components through an enterprise-wide set of integrated mission capabilities, support services, and data products that provide military authorities with an accurate, timely, unambiguous and continuous warning and attack assessment of air, missile and space threats. The CCIC2S effort sustains the CCIC2S Enterprise and provides data communications between external sensors and end users, mission processing for air and missile warning, and system operations functions. The CCIC2S enterprise provides a data communications architecture supporting the CCIC2S Enterprise and includes Information Assurance (IA) boundary protection for all TCP/IP communications interfaces.
This is a full-time position at Peterson SFB in Colorado Springs, CO with telework flexibility for local candidates – subject to change per the customer’s discretion.
Responsibilities
Duties include, but not limited to:
- Acts as a member of a government ran agile scenario development team.
- Provides AFLCMC/HBQ leadership with analysis of simulation requirements with regards to the appropriate level of design within cost and time parameters.
- Frequently interacts with government team lead and vendors concerning improvements and maintenance to the simulations that are being utilized.
- Coordinates and/or assists in the installation and removal of new or existing simulations.
- Develops applications using scientific and mathematical models to predict consequences of a particular design, accomplish data analysis, support simulation validation and assist in data reduction.
- Support all aspects of the agile creation / modification of scenarios and analytical tools for use by the test community at all organizations and sites, as coordinated by the AFLCMC/HBQ government team lead:
- Attend agile process meetings, including but not limited to daily stand-ups (daily scrums), retrospectives, and program increment planning meetings.
- Aid in the analysis and decomposition of user requirements with the goal being to break down work into task descriptions that can be completed within each sprint.
- Build and document all test cases to assess the quality of finished products.
- Write code pertaining to all scenarios and tools using industry best-practices regarding static / dynamic code analysis, code style guides, and documentation.
- Develop documentation: test plans, test reports, test procedures, data analysis plans, scenario description documents, verification and validation reports, training documents, and other documentation as needed.
- Utilize statistically-significant testing and analysis, when assigned by the Government lead, wherever possible.
- Present or support results briefings as needed or assigned by Government lead.
- Establish and document simulation requirements and performance expectations as needed or assigned by the Government lead.
- Coded tool-sets should be modular in design, comprised of user-friendly GUIs, and fully-documented. It is strongly desired to utilize widely available user-friendly higher-order languages (Python 3, MATLAB, etc.) that do not require compilers for maximum code reuse. In all cases, source code must be provided.
- Interface with test / operational personnel from all applicable organizations to ensure that user needs are being met with the proposed and completed solutions
- Coordinate and use existing tools or scenarios where possible to more efficiently develop solutions or results.
- Coordinate with government team members within every aspect of performed work for each scenario or tool.
- Support all aspects of the agile creation / modification of scenarios and analytical tools for use by the test community at all organizations and sites, as coordinated by the AFLCMC/HBQ government team lead
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen
Clearance: Must have an active DoD Secret clearance, eligible for TS and be able to maintain it.
Education and year’s experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field and twelve (12) years of experience in the respective technical discipline; to include five (5) years of DoD experience; OR
- Master’s or Doctorate Degree in a related field and ten (10) years of experience in the respective technical discipline; to include five (5) years of DoD experience.
Additional Experience:
- Proficient in program languages Java, Perl, Visual Basic, C Family, SQL, Python 3, and MATLAB.
- Experience with full software development life cycle from requirements elicitation to deployment
- Experience with software engineering principles and industry best practices, including agile development
- Have advanced knowledge, experience, and demonstrated ability to perform tasks related to the technical/professional discipline as a Senior Software Engineer.
- Possess the ability to oversee and guide the efforts of junior and mid-level engineers.
- Have a comprehensive understanding and experience of DevSecOps processes and solutions.
- Experience with Virtualization and Containerization platforms and software.
- Experience with Relational and Non-relational databases.
Preferred Requirements:
- Current missile warning/missile defense knowledge
- Experience in aspects of missile defense systems such as Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), C2BMC, BMDS sensors is desirable.
- Knowledge of Modular Architecture
- Have comprehensive understanding and ability to apply system engineering standards, procedures and practices.
- Ability to work independently and apply the proper procedures and processes related to the area of expertise
- Familiarity and/or experience with automated testing techniques and tools
- Working knowledge of the following tools; Share Point, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Rational tool sets
- A strong understanding of program Milestone and Decision Gates (SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.)
- A strong understanding of technical baseline artifacts (ICD, IDD, SDD, SSDD, Requirements, etc.)
