About Horse Technologies
Horse Technologies is part of Horse Powertrain Limited – an independent new powertrain solutions business, with over 125 years of heritage from Renault and Geely. We develop and produce world-class hybrid and combustion engines and transmissions to move our industry forward, offering many different paths to net zero.
This role is employed by Horse Technologies Division and is based in Valladolid, with occasional travel possible to Horse Powertrain’s other sites.

What you will do
- Design embedded software algorithms and control strategies for ECM and hybrid vehicle control systems.
- Translate system functional requirements into software specifications aligned with internal standards and architectures.
- Develop and maintain SW specifications according to project timelines and quality requirements.
- Create functional and dysfunctional validation plans and test strategies.
- Perform MIL (Model-in-the-Loop) validation activities, including test case development and reporting.
- Support calibration teams by providing methods, datasets and software-related documentation.
- Prepare technical reports and communicate development progress to stakeholders.
- Contribute to software development, validation, troubleshooting, capitalization and vehicle/bench validation activities.
What we’re looking for
- A proven track record in embedded software development and validation; experience with Model-Based Design (MATLAB/Simulink) and embedded software architectures is highly valued.
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering; Automotive, Electrical, Electronics, Control Systems or Computer Engineering backgrounds are preferred.
- Excellent skills in software design and validation methods for embedded systems, as well as technical documentation and reporting. Good understanding of Internal Combustion Engines (ICE), hybrid powertrains and their control systems, including combustion, air management, after-treatment and torque management.
- Strong competencies in problem solving and cross-functional collaboration, with a collaborative approach. A proactive, rigorous and creative mindset, with the ability to work effectively in multicultural and international teams.
- Knowledge of the automotive sector, Horse Powertrain business, and our ambition to transform the industry.
- Excellent command of English and Spanish, both spoken and written; French will be valued.
