Job Description

Brief Job Description: The Thermodynamic Software Engineer: - Support the development of its global thermal rating tool. In this role, you will be working with a diverse team of engineers in creating and maintaining thermodynamic models of Vertiv’s HVAC products to support the global Sales and Design teams. Responsibilities and Measurement Criteria with Time investment Needed on Each: (This will describe the overall core responsibilities of the role, decision making responsibilities etc.) - Develop accurate and fast-executing mathematical models for HVAC components such as evaporators, condensers, compressors, fans, and pumps using physics-based equations. - Code efficient, stable algorithms to simulate the performance of single- and multi-circuit HVAC systems, including chilled-water, air-cooled, water-cooled, chiller, and pumped refrigeration systems. - Create and maintain a comprehensive library of heat transfer and pressure drop correlations for single-phase and two-phase refrigerant flows based on state-of-the-art scientific literature. - Review and integrate new methods and correlations from published literature into existing models and code. - Implement numerical methods for solving complex multi-circuit system schemes with high computational efficiency. - Prepare detailed presentations and documentation focused on thermal modeling and analysis. - Utilize C# .NET as the primary coding language for all modeling tasks. Qualifications: Required/ Minimum Qualifications: - MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related field with a focus on thermodynamics. - 2+ years of experience in thermal engineering is preferred, but new graduates are also encouraged to apply. Additional / Preferred Qualifications: - - Strong background in single-phase and two-phase fluid dynamics, refrigerant mechanics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics. - Comprehensive understanding of HVAC system operation, component balancing, and system integration. - Proficiency in coding using object-oriented programming, with familiarity in C# or a similar language considered a plus. - Practical knowledge of numerical methods and multi-layer, multi-circuit schematic iteration. - Highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, and a proactive team player. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and communication tools (MS Teams, MS Outlook). - Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English is mandatory. - Native Italian speaker or fluent in Italian (verbal and written) is highly desirable. - Residency near the Vertiv site in Tognana (Padova) or willingness to relocate is a plus.
