As a Sr. Java Software Developer, you will lead the delivery of mission-critical software solutions supporting a large-scale healthcare platform. Working in a fully remote Agile environment, you will oversee technical execution, guide cross-functional development teams, and ensure high-quality software releases from design through deployment. This role blends hands-on technical leadership with project coordination, process improvement, and stakeholder collaboration. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced software professional who enjoys building scalable applications while mentoring teams and delivering meaningful business outcomes.
### Accountabilities

- Coordinate cross-functional collaboration between development, QA, DevOps, architecture, business analysts, and Agile teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Provide technical oversight by reviewing application architecture, system design, scalability, performance, maintainability, and integration strategies.
- Promote engineering best practices through code reviews, testing standards, documentation, and continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) processes.
- Monitor software quality, development metrics, and engineering performance while driving continuous improvement initiatives across the development lifecycle.
- Support production stability by participating in incident management, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and long-term solution planning.
- Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to evaluate technical feasibility, define priorities, communicate project status, and manage technical risks.
- Ensure software solutions comply with applicable regulatory, security, and quality standards while maintaining complete documentation and traceability throughout development.
## Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and at least 7 years of experience in software engineering, application development, or systems development.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive responsibility in software development environments with experience leading technical initiatives or development teams.
- Strong expertise in Java, JavaScript, SQL, RESTful APIs, and modern CI/CD technologies.
- Proven ability to manage end-to-end software delivery, ensuring solutions meet business requirements, quality standards, and project timelines.
- Experience identifying technical risks, dependencies, and implementation challenges while proactively communicating solutions to stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of Agile software development methodologies and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Experience with software architecture, design patterns, code quality standards, peer reviews, and testing best practices.
- Familiarity with low-code application platforms such as Appian, Salesforce, Pega, ServiceNow, OutSystems, Mendix, Oracle, Microsoft platforms, or similar technologies is considered an advantage.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Excellent leadership, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
## Benefits
- Competitive annual salary ranging from **$129,813 to $166,750**, based on experience, location, and contractual requirements.
- Fully remote position within the United States.
- Flexible work schedule supporting work-life balance.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance options.
- Health Savings Account (HSA) eligible healthcare plans.
- 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching contributions.
- Generous paid time off, including vacation, sick leave, personal leave, paid holidays, parental leave, military leave, bereavement leave, and jury duty leave.
