Job Description
Auria is looking to hire a Sr. Principal Software Engineer to support the BOA Program. This role is ONSITE in Boulder, CO.
As a Sr. Principal Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, documentation, testing, deployment, and debugging of software applications. This includes researching, identifying, and implementing solutions to complex, multi-disciplinary software problems and providing technical leadership across the team.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO:
- Implement new features that integrate smoothly with pre-existing systems.
- Develop software using Agile methodologies, participating in and often leading team ceremonies.
- Utilize Jira to document and track bugs, enhancements, and user stories.
- Provide software engineering support for multi-language (C/C++, Python, and Java) and complex software systems.
- Enhance usability, performance, and maintainability of systems through analysis, refactoring, and defect resolution.
- Coordinate, integrate, and resolve defects in conjunction with the test team.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, providing technical guidance and code reviews.
- Contribute to and influence the technical direction and architecture of assigned software components.
WHAT THE TEAM REQUIRES:

- Experience working in a Linux environment.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
- Experience with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
- Experience with OOP design patterns and modern data structures.
- Demonstrated software development and troubleshooting experience in a team environment.
- Experience with legacy software and modernization efforts.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs.
- An active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance is required to start, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) security clearance.
- Education/Experience (Software Engineer 4 / Sr. Principal Software Engineer):
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 9 years of related experience;
- OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 7 years of related experience;
- OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 4 years of related experience.
WHAT THE TEAM PREFERS:
- Experience with configuration management software (e.g., Git, Conan, CMake, Nexus, etc.).
- Experience with Java and shell scripting languages (e.g., Bash).
- Experience with Agile development practices.
- Experience using the Atlassian Tool Suite (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket).
- Demonstrated technical leadership experience (task lead, feature lead, or mentoring).
- Experience across the full software development lifecycle (requirements, design, implementation, integration, test, deployment, and sustainment).
PAY TRANSPARENCY: The salary offered will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications - skills, education & experience - and the position level. $155,000 - $180,000
