With a focus on agility and collaboration, LMI serves the defense, space, healthcare, and energy sectors, helping agencies navigate complexity and outpace change. Headquartered in Tysons, Virginia, LMI is committed to delivering impactful results that strengthen missions and drive lasting value. ## Responsibilities - Lead discovery to identify automation, dashboard, AI, and workflow improvement opportunities. - Analyze workflows, pain points, manual processes, data access barriers, and adoption challenges. - Translate user needs into product opportunities, concepts, prototypes, and design specifications. - Design AI-enabled experiences that support trust, transparency, feedback, and human oversight. - Create personas, journey maps, workflow maps, user flows, wireframes, and prototypes. - Define and apply adoption, usage, feature utilization, satisfaction, and support-related metrics. - Use metrics, user feedback, and help desk trends to prioritize product improvements. - Lead usability testing, prototype validation, and post-release feedback sessions. - Support role-based training, onboarding, help content, and adoption strategies. - Partner with product, engineering, data, AI/ML, training, and support teams. - Communicate research findings, design rationale, risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations. - Mentor designers and strengthen repeatable design, discovery, measurement, and improvement. ## Qualifications Required - 7+ years of experience in product design, UX, HCD, service design, or related roles. - Bachelor’s degree in HCD, HCI, UX, design, or related field. - Portfolio demonstrating user-centered design process, research-informed decisions, and clear design documentation. - Experience designing complex workflow, dashboard, automation, or data-heavy products. - Experience with AI-enabled products, responsible AI, or human-in-the-loop design. - Skilled in user research, workflow analysis, usability testing, and synthesis. - Experience defining or using product metrics, adoption metrics, or usage analytics. - Ability to translate ambiguous needs into clear designs and backlog-ready requirements. - Experience supporting training, onboarding, help content, or user enablement. - Strong collaboration with product, engineering, data, AI/ML, training, and support teams. - Strong facilitation, communication, stakeholder management, and design leadership skills. - Proficiency with Figma, FigJam, Miro, Axure, Adobe XD, or similar tools. - Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, GitLab, Azure DevOps, or similar tools. - Must be a U.S. citizen with an active Secret-level security clearance. Preferred - Experience supporting government programs focused on digital maturity, workflow modernization, automation, dashboarding, tool adoption, training, user support, or metrics-driven product improvement. - Experience with AI-assisted decision support, intelligent automation, or GenAI workflows. - Experience reducing manual burden, improving access to data, or streamlining fragmented workflows through digital products. - Experience creating opportunity registers, maturity assessments, adoption plans, or continuous improvement roadmaps. - Experience establishing repeatable HCD, measurement, training, support, or product improvement practices. - Familiarity with Section 508, WCAG, accessibility testing, or inclusive design.
