Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Revenue Analyst to support revenue accounting, financial analysis, and related business support activities, primarily for a software business while also supporting other revenue-related areas as needed. This role will be responsible for accurate and timely revenue recognition, revenue-related close activities, journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting; requiring a practical understanding of core revenue recognition principles rather than deep technical expertise. In addition to core revenue accounting responsibilities, the role will provide analytical support across sales, product offerings, revenue drivers, and process improvements. You will partner with finance, accounting, customer service, and commercial teams across Germany, Switzerland, Poland, and the US to ensure high-quality reporting and actionable insights.
The role is onsite, 5 days a week, from our office in Wrocław.
### Key Responsibilities
## Revenue Accounting & Close:
- Perform monthly and quarterly revenue accounting activities, including preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and providing revenue-related accounting close support.
- Apply U.S. GAAP revenue recognition principles under ASC 606, particularly to software transactions and related arrangements.
- Review revenue-related data, contracts, invoices, and supporting documentation to ensure revenue is recorded accurately and consistently.
- Support internal controls, audit requests, and documentation for revenue accounting processes.
## Revenue Analysis & Reporting:
- Analyze revenue, bookings, sales trends, product mix, customer contracts, and other business drivers to support monthly close and management reporting.
- Prepare clear variance explanations and concise narratives for finance leadership and business partners.
- Support recurring revenue reporting packages and ad-hoc analysis related to sales, product offerings, pricing, and revenue performance.
## Systems, Process & Data:
- Work with SAP to process, review, and analyze revenue-related transactions and support accurate reporting.
- Improve revenue accounting and reporting processes by standardizing templates, enhancing data quality, and identifying opportunities for automation.
- Partner with IT, accounting, and finance teams on system or process changes impacting revenue recognition and reporting.
## Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with corporate finance, accounting, customer service, and commercial teams across multiple regions to align revenue accounting and reporting processes.
- Support ad-hoc projects, business reviews, and analyses that require both accounting judgment and financial analysis.
### Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field; CPA, ACCA, MBA, or equivalent qualification is a plus.
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in revenue accounting, accounting, audit, or financial analysis; experience in software, SaaS, or technology is preferred.
- Practical understanding of revenue recognition principles and the ability to execute recurring processes, maintain supporting schedules, and analyze revenue-related data; experience with software revenue arrangements is a plus.
- Hands-on experience preparing or reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly/quarterly close activities.
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, and structured reporting.
- Experience with large ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle; SAP experience is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to connect accounting results to business drivers and communicate insights clearly.
- Excellent English communication skills and ability to work effectively with international teams; German language skills are helpful but not required.
- Experience with BI tools, SQL, Python, or other analytics/automation tools is a plus, but not required.
# What We’re Looking For
- A finance professional who can own recurring close and reporting responsibilities while also thinking analytically about the business.
- Someone comfortable working with large data sets, ERP outputs, and Excel-based analysis, with strong attention to detail and process discipline.
- A proactive team member who can partner across functions, identify issues, suggest improvements, and translate revenue data into practical business insights.
